Top Reasons to Visit San Diego for Camping Adventures

When considering California as a vacation destination, one word springs to mind; expensive. How can you possibly afford to visit southern California and spend longer than two days there?

San Diego camping is an affordable option for families to enjoy the splendor and not break the bank. If you are picturing rugged campsites, un-bathed children and rustic accommodations, you are not thinking modern enough! Modern San Diego camping is generally done at surrounding camp sites that provide bathrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and sometimes even pools and Jacuzzis. Who said camping has to be rustic?

The sunny San Diego area is ideal to visit any time of the year. The climate stays temperate all year long so planning the trip around your schedule is simple; there isn’t an off-season for camping here. From the campground, you can do any number of activities. The sites are near enough to San Diego that you can head into the city and experience the restaurants and entertainment housed in the famous Victorian Gas lamp Quarter, or make it out to the city’s popular beaches for relaxation and a swim. For a family-friendly option, the San Diego Zoo is a fun and educational pick.

Outside of San Diego is a wealth of natural wonders. To get a smattering of different natural elements in one place, you can try the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, the largest state park in California. The park showcases mountain vistas, canyons, desert backdrops, cactus-filled expanses under deep blue skies and miles of trails for both hiking and horseback riding. Trails take you through all of the interesting geological features of the park and give you a glimpse of the flora and fauna that make this park a favorite with locals. The park is also a great place for the budding archeologist as the badlands throughout exhibit interesting fossils and hint that the park wasn’t always a desert.

So, when you get out to California, you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a good time. Camping allows you to budget more money for fun activities and nice dinners out on the town instead of paying an arm and a leg for hotel rooms. Experiencing San Diego from the pristine quiet of a campsite also offers the soothing benefits of getting out into the natural world. Nature is rejuvenating for the spirit and its stress-relieving effects are as good as gold. After a California camping trip, you and your family will be able to return to your home refreshed and with money to spare. What more can you ask for in a vacation?
