If you are looking for a city break this winter, why not take a look at Poland. A country located in Central Europe, Poland is a major destination for tourists around the world, who come to admire its beauty in both its old cities and in the wild scenery of its national parks and nature reserves. Poland also contains over 9,300 lakes. Masuria forms the largest and most frequented lake districts in the nation.

Other favorite places of travelers here include the Krakow-Wielun Upland with its limestone areas, caves and medieval castles; and the Carpathian Mountains, including the Tatras, with their magnificent mountain scenery, folklore and sports facilities. Poland has a proud cultural heritage and strong theatrical and musical tradition. Warsaw, the capital, and the main cities both have theatres and opera companies that put on a whole range of musical and cultural programs for you to take pleasure in. The National Theatre is the nation's most prestigious institution for ballet, opera, and theatre; and its Moniuszko Hall claims the largest stage in Europe! For the best of Polish and foreign classical music you've got to visit the Warsaw Philharmonic. Then there's a Theatre on an Island you'd want to check out when you go to the Lazienki Park where a Polish king had converted a bathhouse into an architectural watermark. The Ujadowski Palace stands in the same location.

For people intrigued by royalty, there are more palaces: especially Krolikarnia Palace, Ostrogski Palace, and Braniski Palace which are delightful sites to visit. Oh and the Royal Route in Warsaw can't be ignored!

You will also enjoy exploring the many night clubs in Warsaw. Loch caters to rock stars, actors and other showbiz personalities. The Ackwarium Jazz Club is the best jazz club to keep you up through Warsaw nights. Barbados is a popular joint for expatriates, and Blue Velvet is a techno dance club as you might have guessed. There's much more, of course, and you definitely won't run out of places to visit in Poland.

Other cities popular with tourists include Krakow and Gdansk.
