Udaipur Lake Palace: One of the most dazzling places in the world

Udaipur is located in Rajasthan. The historic city is the abode of the Mewar Kingdom.

History
Lake Palace rises from the waters of Pichola on Jag Niwas Island. It extends across the whole 1.5 hectares like a castle in white marble. It was constructed way back in the 17th century. The palace was first referred to as Jaginwas after Maharana Jagjit Singh founded it in 1973. He ruled from 1628 to 1654. He encouraged craftsmen of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan to duplicate the unmatched buildings at Agra. The rulers used this place as their summer retreat.
