An exciting city-that is what Milan, Italy is! A city well-reputed for style, fashion and excellent designs, its abundant tourist attractions include everything a traveler can possibly seek- thrills and excitements, history and culture or just parks and gardens to stroll about.
One of the largest churches in the world- The Duomo, in Milan goes back in history as early as 1386 when it was made, however it was completed only in the 1800s. Originally a Gothic cathedral, it underwent modifications and the Duomo now is a strange blend of varying styles boasting of 135 spires and 3400 statues. A trip to the Duomo’s roof is a must when in Milan, for it offers a breathtaking view, covering the city and reaching as far as the Alps.
Rich in art galleries, touring Milan is the perfect place for art lovers. Two of the most important ones: Modern Art Gallery housing 19th and 20th century art including works by Modigliani, Morandi, Carrà, De Chirico, etc. Brera Picture Gallery one of the best picture galleries in Italy also contains many notable paintings of the 20th century and 15th century. The Brera Picture Gallery is considered to be one of Italy’s best picture galleries and it has some excellent futuristic paintings of 20th century.
To not be impartial to any of the senses, apart from visiting galleries and historic places, travelers must visit the world famous opera house- La Scala. Inaugrated on 3 August 1778, as Nuovo Regio Ducal Teatro alla Scala, it remains till date as one of the world’s greatest opera houses. Amazed hearing the date? Well, La Scala Museum, a part of the house contains a very good collection of paintings, drafts, statues, costumes, and other documents on La Scala’s history and opera.
Another site, very different from those mentioned till now is the Stadio Meazza, better known as the San Siro Stadium in Milan. It is one the world’s most revered football stadium and is home to Internazionale and AC Milan. Football fans can miss their meals in Milan, but not the matches. If there are no matches during course of stay, then they go there just to pay homage!
A tour in any place is never over without some (window) shopping. Quadrilaterom the Navigli, the Brera (good for night life also!) are some good areas for shopping.
Tired after the whirlwind of sightseeing? Milan being a buzz of tourist and business activities all through the year, offers excellent accommodation services. It has a variety of hotels catering to needs of the visitors- be it luxury or economy or simply just comfort. There are many expensive hotels, and those which are a economical and also offers good services will be booked throughout the year, so booking well in advance is a must. Cheap hotels can be found some areas like Stazione Centrale. 4 Star Hotel Milan provide excellent accomodation at good pricing. Travelers just have to choose hotel in Milan of their choice well and do nothing more but enjoy the trip.
