Palm Springs, California is a desert oasis for vacationers looking to escape colder climates and play on some of the most famous golf courses in the country. While golf is certainly the most popular recreational activity, Palm Springs also hosts numerous other active pursuits such as hiking, horseback riding, and tennis. Whether the warm, dry climate has drawn you in or the allure of outdoor adventure has become too much resist, Palm Springs is bound to entertain and excite you with its resort-like atmosphere.

Even with the highest of standards individuals have coming in, the 111 breathtaking courses that dot the beautiful terrain of Palm Springs and the surrounding areas will most certainly meet any expectations. The desert provides not only a dramatic background, but also the perfect environment for maintaining stunning courses due to the abundant sunshine (Palm Springs boasts over 350 days of sun per year) and low humidity. No matter what your skill level, you are sure to find a course that challenges every aspect of your game.

When searching for the right course for you, two to consider are Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort and Cimarron Golf Resort. The Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort offers two 18-hole courses, however, the Legend is the one to try if you want a traditional layout combined with a stiff test of nerves and ability. With over 40 newly-added bunkers and severely sloped greens, even the most seasoned veteran will have trouble getting the ball up and down on this course.

Cimarron Golf Resort, designed by John Fought, is a gorgeous course that combines the simple beauty of the native desert with European characteristics that may remind one of old Scotland styling. Try your hand at the long course and soak in the beauty of the lush green fairways set amongst majestic mountain peeks and sparkling blue water. Accurate shots are a must on this course since the sod-walled bunkers will eat up any errant or miss hits, so duffers beware, you will be in for a long day if your game is not up to par.

To enjoy one of the most beautiful environments in the Southwest, consider a hiking tour with a company like Desert Safari. They can take you to a variety of locations, depending on your interests and skill level, where you can explore alpine forests, an exotic wilderness, and the giant rock formations of the desert. If you prefer to cover more terrain, then a bicycle tour through the valley or into the mountains may be perfect for you. Whether you want to see Box Canyon and Mt. San Jacinto or ride up into the Santa Rosa range, there is a cycling adventure that meets your needs and abilities.

To kick off a relaxing day, take a stroll downtown and check out the Palm Springs Walk of Stars, which highlights celebrities and other notable figures who have lived in Palm Springs. Afterwards, give yourself the star treatment by heading over to the Tropics Retreat Spa, located in the Caliente Tropics Resort. Massage therapy, body wraps, pedicures, manicures, and facials are all available so you can pamper yourself and relieve any remaining stress while the guys hit the links.

Palm Springs is the perfect place to escape from a hectic lifestyle and get back to the beauty of the outdoors. To truly stay within this desert oasis and free yourself from the hustle and bustle of a popular resort town, consider Palm Springs vacation rentals for your accommodations needs. Every glance out the window gives you a glimpse of the surrounding mountain ranges as you enjoy the privacy and comforts of home. Stroll out to the backyard for a swim amongst this beautiful setting or make your way to any of the nearby golf courses or tennis courts. This is your vacation, so make the most of it by staying in a conveniently located home or condo rental that has all the amenities you need for a restful, relaxing stay.

Which PDA should I buy?
By: Roee Rotman | 24-05-2007
I'm using a very old Palm Pilot Vx (bought in 1999). I synchronize it with my home and office computers, on both of which I installed Palm Desktop 4.1.4.Recently, my PDA started to act its age, and some sections on the touchscreen are not responding. I think it's about time I replace my PDA, but I don't know with what. I need a PDA that will support Hebrew fonts and applications, that will be able to synchronize with my current desktop application (as I do not want to lose record of my life in the past years) and that won't be expensive (I only need calendar, contacts and memos applications, everything else is not essential). Can someone give a recommendation?

By: ElynnWQ | 11-10-2006
Will I be able to transfer my data and applications from my 2002 PalmVIIx to a current handheld?  This PDA still works fine for what I need, and I back it up to the Palm Desktop (3.1) application on my computer.  But I know it won't run forever.  When it dies will I be able to restore from the Palm Desktop to some new PDA/handheld?
