Manchester has a population of 452 000 and has been considered a city since 1853. in a poll of british business leaders in 2006, the city was voted as the best place in england to situate a business. as well as this, Manchester was the host of the commonwealth games in 2002, and has several other connections to sport, containing the city being home to man united.

These include the museum of science & industry, which tells the history of Manchester's rich industrial heritage.
