Volunteer at Piedras Blancas National Park in Costa Rica

ASVO is a non-profit NGO which places volunteers in Costa Rica's national parks and protected areas. ASVO's objective is to improve the conditions and amount of volunteer work performed at a national and international level. ASVO places volunteers in national parks and other areas protected by the Ministry of Environment and Energy all over the country This placemennt needs volunteer because to help develop and protect this tropical wet forest of Costa Rica. Although this park receives few visitors, the dense rain forest, beaches, and waterfalls need upkeep in order to retain their natural beauty. The park is located in the southeast of the Osa Pensinsula, in the province of Puntarenas, in the South Pacific of Costa Rica. It belongs to the Osa Conservation Area and has an area of 14025 hectares.

The park is relatively new and does not receive many visitors and its trails are still being developed. The park is home to a number of interesting species of plants, birds and animals.


Volunteers must be of age 18 or above with minimum education of high school. Volunteers with the following special skills are preferred for the placement:-

 Forestry Environmental Science Biology Data Collection

 Volunteers can assist by doing following tasks:-

 1. Maintenance of trails. 2. Cleaning and maintenance of facilities. 3. For those who can speak Spanish, tending the public and helping park rangers develop routes.
