Volunteer for Kwadaso Estate Metropolitan Junior Secondary School in Ghana

The school teaches students ages 12-18 and is funded by the government. The headmaster, Mr. Baidoo, is eager to expand projects in the areas of agriculture, sports and recreation and science. They operate 10 months of the year and teach all subjects to their pupils. Volunteers must be of age 18 or above with minimum education of high school. This placement does not need any volunteers in the month of Jul and Aug. The school is working to expand projects in the areas of agriculture, sports and recreation and science. They are interested in having volunteers who could assist teaching in classes, and help them continue to organize these extra projects.

Volunteers with the following special skills are preferred for the placement:-

Leadership Programming Recreational Programming Environmental Science Alternative Agricultural Technology Composting Systems Soccer Baseball Educational Games Other Musical Instruments Volunteers can assist by doing following tasks:- Assist teacher in the classroom (subject choice is up to the volunteer). With donation of a computer, volunteers could teach computer skills to students. Organize extra-curricular programs (athletics, music). Assist with agriculture projects (raising snails, bee keeping, maize farm, teak tree growing, compost).

Some current ideas include: building a volley ball net, softball field, tennis court, working on agriculture projects (ie. composting, raising snails, bee keeping, corn growing), assisting with athletics, music, dance.
