Walt Disney World at Christmas: Showcasing the Christmas Spirit

Christmas is by far the best event of the year that children of all ages will enjoy at Walt Disney World. There's a festive spirit showcased at WDW that no other vacation spot can touch.

During this season, Disney World pulls all the stops to make it an ideal place to bring the family and celebrate the holidays. All the theme parks come together, from the middle of November to the end of December, in one big Christmas themed party.

The Decorations are at full hilt in the manner that only Disney can do. Millions of lights adorn the whole place. Wreaths, Christmas trees, holly and other holiday touches are highlighted with the Osborne lights. Special shows are staged with some of the most popular entertainers in concerts and special holiday events. The Disney characters are in their Christmas costumes and snow can be seen on Main Street and behind the MGM Studios. Nothing is spared at WDW during Christmas to immerse you and your family in the magic of the season.

The Magic Kingdom is at it's holiday best as it hosts the "Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Day Parade" with Mickey, the Gingerbread man, Santa, Jolly Snowman, the cute little Elves, the March of the Wooden Soldiers and a host of Disney characters. Walt Disney World at Christmas is aired on national television on Christmas Day. Spectacular fireworks displays, like "Wishes" and Illuminations are presented. You can even see snow falling on the rooftop of the Magic Kingdom castle. Holiday music fills Main Street and all the shops are dressed for the season.

At Epcot, no cost is spared throughout Future World. The countries that are featured in the World Showcase are presented with their own decorations according to each individual culture. The Christmas celebration in these countries is done just as it would be celebrated in their respective tradition. Many holiday personalities come to life during these events.

The Candlelight Processional highlights the WDW Christmas celebrations at Epcot. This live performance is a musical, re-telling the events of the birth of Jesus. A narrator, a full orchestra and choral performers all take part in this concert at the Epcot. The showing of the IllumiNations fireworks as its finale, highlights the event.

For events like Christmas, it would be best to plan ahead of time and make the necessary reservations early, as seats may not accommodate all the guests attending the shows. In fact, Christmas and New Year are the busiest times at the resort.

MGM Studios: The Disney MGM studios features the Osbourne Spectacle of Lights. The Spectacle of lights is a huge, 5 million plus display of holiday lights that adorns the streets of America at the back lot of the studios. The MGM Studios also features the "Hollywood Holly-Day Parade" of your favorite Walt Disney characters.

The now famous Osbourne Spectacle of Lights started in Little Rock, Arkansas, when Jennings Osbourne strung 1000 light bulbs as a gift to his daughter. Every year, lights were added. Eventually, it reached 3 million lights, and people soon took notice. This idea quickly became an excellent addition to the Walt Disney World Christmas, bringing a stronger and more festive feel to the occasion.

The Animal Kingdom Park features the Jingle Jangle parade, with the WDW characters as the main participants, and a huge Christmas tree at the entrance to the park. In addition to that, there is also the floor to ceiling tree in the middle of the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge.

The festive spirit is captured at Walt Disney World at Christmas. Spending a vacation at Disney during this season is ideal for everybody.
