Western Cape of South Africa Beaches

The area of Cape Town is the home of some of the most splendid beaches in the world. There are beaches that are ideal for individuals and couples and others that are more well suited for families. The beaches of Cape Town are a popular destination for tourists as well as residents of the Western Cape of South Africa. The beaches along the Western Cape of South Africa, along what is known as False Bay, are warmer, family friendly, and less developed. The beaches on the Atlantic coast have cooler waters and are densely populated with restaurants and shops.

Beaches on the Atlantic Ocean

The beaches along the Western Cape of South Africa have become known as the Cape Town Riviera. This area is located on the western side of the Cape Peninsula along the Atlantic Cost. These beaches are protected from some of the strongest winds and enjoy longer time in the sun. However, even with the additional sunshine the waters tend to be a bit cooler here than on the False Bay beaches.

The Western Cape of South African Table Bay beaches are located north of the Atlantic Seaboard. They are near Robben Island and Table Mountain. The beaches found here are idea for swimming, windsurfing, paddle skiing, and surfing. A few of these lovely beaches are Dolphin, Table View, Blouberg's, Big Bay and Little Bay, and Milnerton.

The beaches along the Atlantic Seaboard of the Western Cape of South Africa are where many people visit if they want to watch the crowds and be seen themselves. In addition to the people watching you can also sun bathe, play volleyball, and swim. A few of these beaches are Clifton, Seapoint, Three Anchor Bay, Camps Bay, Hout Bay, and Sandy Bay.

False Bay Beaches

The False Bay Beaches are along the Indian Ocean on the coast of the Western Cape of South Africa. These beaches draw visitors who want a more sedate environment than the ones found on the Atlantic side. The beaches found here are more family friendly, however, they do become equally busy during the peak season.

The Western Cape of South Africa beaches of False Bay are located between the Helderberg beaches in the east and Cape Point on the western end of the bay. Some of the Helderber Beaches are Bikini Beach, Gordon's Bay, Strand, and Kogel Bay. They are all approximately forty-five minutes from the center of Cape Town and are ideal for families that want to enjoy swimming, surfing, beach walks, sun bathing, and fishing.

The Cape Point Beaches of the Western Cape of South Africa include the Fish Hoek, Muizenberg, Glencairn, St. James, Diaz Beach, Smitswinkelbaai, and Boulders. These are idea for those families that want to swim, surf, body board, or sun bathe.

All of the Western Cape of South Africa beaches have something to offer visitors. Each has activities that will guarantee that guests have a great time. If one beach is too crowded or isn't suited for the activity you want to participate in, another beach is right down the road. The Western Cape of South Africa beaches are great for people of all ages.
