In the county, children start school when they turn 5. They study at primary school for 7 years and then spend another 4 years at a middle school until they are 11. Warwickshire still maintains the Grammar school system in its two districts. When they reach final year of primary school, they are given the opportunity of sitting the 11 plus exam. There are 4 Further Education Colleges in Warwickshire, North Warwickshire and Hinckley College, King Edward VI Sixth Form College when abbreviated K.E.G.S in Nuneaton, Stratford Upon Avon College and Warwickshire College.
Five independent schools are also within the county, Kingsley School, Rugby School, Warwick School, in Leamington Spa, Princethorpe College and The King's High School For Girls, Warwick. Solihull School existing in Solihull is sometimes distinguished as being in the county of Warwickshire. The variations of the county border means that this town was, at some time, within Warwickshire and whereas others were not.
Many major motorways and roads move in Warwickshire including the M6 motorway that links the north west area of England and the midlands with the M1 motorway and further on to London. It also serves Rugby, Nuneaton and Bedworth on to Birmingham. The M40 motorway that links London to Birmingham, moves in the centre of the county and serves Leamington Spa, Warwick, and Stratford. The M69 goes from Coventry to Leicester motorway that serves Nuneaton. Some other motorways pass little about through Warwickshire that includes the M45 just a little near south of Rugby connecting with the M1, the M6 Toll from the southern end and the M42 that passes the county at many points. Other main ways in Warwickshire includes A45, A46, A452, M6 and M40.
There are two major railway lines passing through Warwickshire, The Chiltern Main Line, the previous Great Western route from London to Birmingham moves in the centre of Warwickshire on a route that is same as that of M40 motorway. Hatton. Rail services are made available by Chiltern Railways and London Midland from Birmingham to Leamington only. The West Coast Main Line moves through Warwickshire. At Rugby the WCML is divided into two sections, one goes to west through Coventry and Birmingham and the other Trent Valley Line moves north west towards Stafford and the north west of England. There are other railway lines in Warwickshire, serving the public. A branch line from Birmingham to Stratford upon Avon and this line used to move to Cheltenham but not anymore.
Various Canals in Warwickshire provide an excellent services for travelling and enjoying the journeys. The Grand Union Canal, that flows through Leamington and Warwick and further on to Birmingham. A small branch of the Grand Union Canal, Saltisford Canal Arm is close to the middle of Warwick. This arm is here since 1799 that is now the ready for anchoring the colourful slimboats and a waterside park has been built for the public. More than 800 slimboats come through the canal to Warwick every year and put anchore here. The Coventry Canal that flows from Coventry and passes Bedworth, Nuneaton, Atherstone and Polesworth and then further to Tamworth. The Oxford Canal is also there, flowing from Coventry to Rugby and then to the rural south of the county and reaches Oxford.
The Ashby de la Zouch Canal passes little bit through Warwickshire from a cross section with the Coventry Canal at Bedworth. The Stratford upon Avon Canal that moves from the Grand Union west of Warwick to Stratford and the River Avon is deep enough to navigate from right next to north of Stratford. The Stratford and Warwick Waterway Trust still wants to pursue the proposal to extend this canal to Warwick.
