Guernsey is an island located off the coast of Normandy in the English Channel. Technically, Guernsey is not part of the UK but under special treaty arrangements its seas are patrolled by the Royal Navy. Guernsey also includes other islands: namely Sark, Brecqhou, Burhou, Lihou, Alderney and other islets. Its relationship to the British Crown is essentially the same as the one Britain has with the Isle of Man.

The island of Guernsey is divided into 10 parishes and together with Bailiwick of Jersey are under the UK's responsibility. The island of Guernsey is also not part of the European Union.

Guernsey Airport is the entry point to all of the Guernsey islands. Bringing tourists and businessmen and women from all over the EU, UK and the rest of the world, the airport has seen a 19 million pound facelift in order to modernize its terminal and enable international travel to flourish. The airport terminal, although incomparable to other heavyweights such as Heathrow in size, nevertheless boasts an attractive warm and appealing atmosphere. The terminal and airport grounds are manned by over 100 airport staff trained in all aspects of travel and booking of local and international travelers. Because of its smaller size in comparison to the other airports, overcrowding is rare and travelers report a pleasant travel experience laced with personal contact and attention from the friendly airport staff. There have been no major accidents or incidences at Guernsey Airport in recent times.

Guernsey Airport car hire is equally efficient. The airport renovations have attracted a slew of major rental firms such as Hertz, Avis, Europcar and Alamo which serve local and international travelers with a world-class service. While it is possible to book and rent a car once you arrive at Guernsey Airport, most travelers now prefer to book and reserve their car rental at the same time as their flight and hotel. This can easily be done through the services of hotel and booking agencies Expedia and Travelocity.

While a simple search on Google will unearth countless other booking agents, these two hold the sway as far as volume of travelers booked. Travelocity and Expedia provide world-class booking where a traveler can book their flight, travel and car rental all in the same package. To many bargain hunters, this deal-of-the-century arrangement promises a hassle-free car rental when one arrives at Guernsey Airport. This also eliminates the hassle of waiting once you arrive at the Guernsey Airport car hire terminal. Attempting to rent on demand is also subject to vehicle availability.

At Guernsey Airport car hire terminal, the traveler will have a choice of different vehicles namely two-door, four-door sedans, vans, mini-vans and trucks. The car rental firms understand that different travelers have different transportation needs. From the solo traveler, to the honeymooning couple, to the busy business man and school group or tourist tours, there is a car to suit every need as anticipated by the car rental firms.

The car rental firms accept most of the world?s credit cards namely VISA, Mastercard, Discover, American Express and Diners. Debit cards are also accepted if they have the VISA or Mastercard logos but it is recommended that one check with their local bank before attempting to use a debit card at an international car rental terminal at Guernsey Airport.
