Located in the enchanting Nilgiri Hills in Tamil Nadu, the Sanctuary is an important Tiger Reserve of India. It was the first sanctuary of South India. Its landscape encompasses beautiful hills, valleys, waterways, swamps and forest. Mudumalai National Park sprawls over an area of 321 sq km and is separated by the Bhandipur National Park by the river Moyar. The most propitious time to visit the sanctuary is from February to June. Flora: A variety of floral species can be seen here. The view of its hilly terrain carpeted with mixed and deciduous forests is simply mesmerizing. Some of the floral species found here are Bamboos (Bambusa Arundinacea) Natural teak (Tectona Grandis), Anogeissus latifolia, Terminalia, Crenulata/Terminalia Tomontosa, Grewia, and blooming trees like Indian Labumusum, Aredesia and Solanancea. Fauna: You can treat your eyes with amazing wildlife species such as Elephants, Gaur, Banner, Macaque, Common Langur, Tigers, Leopards, Chital, Panther, Sloth Bear, Python, Barking Deer, Four Horned Antelope, Otter, Crocodiles (Mugger), Giant Flying Squirrel, Sambar, Hyena, Wild Dog, Wild Boar, Mouse Deer, Spotted Deer, Jackal, Hare, Porcupine and Mongoose. Avian Species For bird lovers, the Park offers beautiful birds like  Peacock, Grey Jungle Fowl, Red Spur Fowl, Grey Partridge Quails, Goggle Eyed Plower, Malabar Whistling Thrush, Large Racket-Tailed Dronge, The Magpie-robin, Spotted Babbler, Small Green Barbet, Green Pigeons, Brown Dove, Malabar Grey Hornbill, Bulbuls, Mynahs, Eagles, Hawks, Buzzards, Harriers, Falcons and King Vulture.
