"Cork is the second largest city in the Republic of Ireland after Dublin. The city is located in the province of Munster and lies on the banks of the River Lee. Cork City has a population of 275,000 inhabitants. Cork is also one of the 32 counties of Ireland and is in fact the largest county in Ireland. Cork city has a great reputation for its’ friendly people and is home to Murphy’s Irish Stout, the Guinness Jazz Festival, famous ex Irish footballer Roy Keane amongst other things. For anyone visiting Ireland for the first time no visit is complete without visiting County Cork. The city boasts some excellent accommodation that caters for all a travelers needs. Due to its’ location in the South West of Ireland Cork is an ideal base from which to explore neighboring counties such as County Kerry and County Waterford-home of the world famous Waterford Crystal factory. Getting to Cork
Getting to Cork is also not as problematic as it once used to be. Daily flights operate between Dublin and Cork Airports and daily flights also operate from many UK and mainland European destinations. Flights to Cork have become much more competitive in recent years especially with the launch of Ryanair daily flights from Dublin. If flying does not take your fancy you can always take a train from Houston Station in Dublin right to Cork city centre. For those wishing to travel by car, rental cars can be picked up at almost all major Irish locations including Dublin Airport, Shannon, Rosslare Port and of course in Cork Airport of City itself.

1. Make sure to watch a live hurling match. This is a fantastic spectacle and is played with 15 men on each team. It is the fasted field game in the world today and is played with hurling sticks and a small leather ball called a sliothar. A truly amazing sport!
2. Visit Fota Wildlife Park located between Cobh and Midleton in East Cork.
3. Check out and sample Irish Whisky at its finest at the Jameson Irish Distillery in Midleton.
4. Sample some of the best cuisine anywhere including crocodile in Kinsale’s many fine restaurants.
5. Take a day trip to The Blarney Woolen Mills.
6. Marvel at the spectacular scenery in West Cork.
7. Take in a day’s golf at the many fantastic course Cork has to offer.
8. Enjoy a few pints of the local black stuff-Murphy’s in the many quaint city bars.
