Australia is a vast country and can take months of driving just to do a lap around the coastal roads approx 25,000 km. There is an amazing choice of things to do, destinations to visit and experiences to discover. Here are some suggestions for when it is the best time to travel to different parts of Australia.
Northern Australia
Generally the best time to travel north is in the cooler months May to September. Northern Queensland, the Top End, the Red Centre and most of Western Australia are very popular. This is when daytime temperatures are 19°-31°C and it rains very occasionally. June, July and August are the busiest months in these areas.
Southern Australia
The southern states of Australia are very popular in the summer months. When travelling during October to April in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania you'll find warm weather and lots of sunshine great for experiencing the great outdoors.
If you are travelling and going to a variety of destinations it would be best go in either Spring or Autumn to escape the extreme heat or cold temperatures.
Here are the best months to go to these areas
Northern Territory and Kakadu - May through September
Ayers Rock and The Olgas - April through November
Tasmania - November through March - Summer months are best
Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef - April through December
Western Australia - August through December
Australia Alps - June to August
Australia’s Seasons are
Summer is from December to February
Autumn is from March to May
Winter is from June to August
Spring is from September to November
For most of the country the hottest month is January
Australia has some many things to do you will never run out of options, here is a few ideas - Eat out restaurants or cafes. Go shopping for pleasure. Go to the beach do some swimming, surfing, diving. Go to our unique markets. Visit National Parks & State Parks. Find a unique Pub. Visit Wildlife Parks, Zoos & Aquariums. Visit Botanical or public gardens. Ride a camel. Charter a boat, take a cruise, ride a ferry . Visit historical heritage buildings & monuments.
Most of these activities can be found anywhere in Australia. Enjoy!
