Tanzania is one of the world's best destinations for wildlife safaris. With most of its land devoted to conserving wildlife, it has managed to retain many species and natural phenomena that are barely visible in the rest of the world. Here are some sights that may become the highlight of your a safari in Tanzania - 1. Migration of wildebeest - One of the phenomena the Serengeti National Park is famous for. Wildebeest, a type of antelope found only in Africa, migrate southwards in December to breed, and migrate back upwards in June. It is said that the number of wildebeest crossing the Serengeti, in herds of various sizes, exceeds 1.5 million.2. Cooperation of Plains Zebras with other species - While the wildebeest migrate, the zebras travel with them. While the zebras chew away the tough, tall grass and leave the shorter grass for the wildebeest, the wildebeest protect the zebras as their own when predators are near. 3. The Nile crocodile - This gigantic creature, which easily grown up to 15 feet, can bite you in two with one snap of its jaws. Yet, when accompanied by trained personnel, you will have nothing to fear from it. The Nile crocodile can be found in the Grumeti river flowing through western Serengeti. 4. Lions on a hunt - A pride of lions is a beautiful thing to watch. The lionesses slowly close in on their prey from every direction, camouflaging themselves well and hiding their movements. Suddenly, the prey finds itself surrounded - after which ensues a deadly, yet elegant, game of cat-and-mouse. Only, this time there are nearly a dozen big cats, and the mouse is far from being small. 5. Ostrich in full gallop - a herd of ostriches in full gallop is an arresting view. The birds are nearly six feet tall, and they gallop at a speed easily equal to that of a horse. Unharnessed and unfettered, they gallop freely and beautifully - a process that is so fast, it tests the photographer's limits when it comes to quick focusing and framing.6. Migration of birds - A flock of cranes flying across a clear sky is a sight that can show us exactly how tiny we are in this universe. Being able to catch this sight on film, however, is a challenge that takes quite a bit of photographic acumen to execute well. In any case, what is the harm in trying? 7. Cheetah sprints - The cheetah is one of the most elusive creatures, as well as one of the most beautiful. If you are exceptionally lucky during a safari in Tanzania, you will have the fortune of seeing a cheetah in full sprint to catch its prey. While all these are sights that most of us have seen of television, the thrill of watching them live is completely different. All at once, the wildness becomes a part of you and your environment rather than something harmless to be ogled as long as you want. With a photographic safari in Tanzania, you can assimilate and collate your memories of all these sights and more - why not go and find out?
