Truck Racks – the Reason for Finding the Way to Happiness

The day I talk about took place on a Saturday. My father turned 70, so we had a great celebration with barbecue, nice drinks and everything else you need for a great party. I was very excited because I saw my ex-wife again, who left me a few months ago due to reasons just women can understand. She always blamed me for watching too much football, for hanging around with my guys and for doing too few things with her. But I think she is still in love with me like I am still in love with her, so I wanted to use this party as an opportunity to ask her to give me a new chance.

It was already 7 o clock and I wondered why Jasmin, my wife, did not arrive. Honestly I really worried about her. Suddenly I got a call from her and she screamed like never before. “What’s wrong with you” I instantly wanted to know, but she did not answer. So I asked again and afterwards I just heard one word, better said one name: “Kitty”. This is the name of the cat I gave her for her last birthday. Later she told me that Kitty was sitting on a tree and not able to come down. I tried to calm her down, but she was so shocked that she wouldn’t calm down. Then I recognized that I had to grab a ladder and drove over in order to help her. She does not live far away so I figured I’d be there in 10 minutes. But before I could leave I had to find a ladder at my father’s house. I couldn’t believe it when he told me he didn’t have one. He continued to tell me that he had one a few years ago but he lost it after rescuing an old lady, who was trapped in a home fire. I had no clue, if this story was true or just a result of his living fantasy, but I knew I had to find a way to get a ladder. Therefore I asked nearly the whole neighborhood, but I got to know that ladders seemed to be just a tool of the past. I recognized that I lived in a world, where the men were not interested in doing stuff by themselves, where kids were too fat and pets too lazy to climb a tree. This condition was not that bad, if Kitty would belong to this version of “Happy USA”. But she does not, because she is fit, living and interested in all kind of experiences like fighting with the neighbor’s dog or climbing a 40 feet high tree.

But suddenly I remembered my good friend John, who is the last example of a self made man like the old pioneers were who founded our great country. I drove to him, grabbed his ladder and tried to store it in the cargo bay. But there was no way to put it there, so I had to find another possibility to store it in or on my truck. And then I saw a truck with a ladder rack not far from me, which had the solution to all of my problems. The owner was an old and very friendly guy, who loved cats. So it was not very difficult to convince him to give me his truck in order to rescue Kitty. 25 minutes later, Kitty was saved and Jasmin seemed to be the happiest person of the world. After I recognized that this was the best opportunity to get her back, I touched her very softly and kissed her. Since this date, we are together again and happier than ever before. But I know the two guys I have to thank for my new chance: First of all Kitty of course, who is sitting next to me at this moment. And beside her I have to thank the old, very nice guy with his helpful truck rack. They are responsible for the fact that I was able to use the ladder towards the way of happiness.
