Finding Math and Chess Learning Center as Easy as 1 2 3
Frank Ho
Founder at Ho Math and Chess Learning Center
Canada certified math teacher
Vancouver, BC, Canada
As the founder of Ho Math and Chess Learning Center, the world’s first and largest math and chess truly integrated learning center, I can speak from my own experience on how to find a math and chess truly integrated learning center and why it is advantageous to learn math from a math and chess truly integrated learning center.
I have been researching math and chess connection subject and had created the world’s first math and chess integrated workbook because my son Andrew was interested in chess at age 6 and he was the youngest Canadian junior chess champion at age 12 and later he became a FIDE chess master.
I coined the term “math and chess learning center” in 1995 and since then the concept of integrating chess into math has become commercially popular but those places claiming to offer math and chess classes still just teach math and chess as two separate subjects and there is no real connection between math and chess. The math and chess true integration is only possible at Ho Math and Chess because I have invented the technology to make the connection happening and this is why Ho Math and Chess is only the learning center where math and chess are truly integrated.
Why integrate math and chess? The reason is by using Ho Math and Chess invented technology we have created an innovative math worksheets which are more fun for children to work with and children are more focused and feel less boring. When working on math and chess integrated workbooks, not only children can raise their math marks, they also improve their critical thinking skill and the most important is these workbooks are fun to work with.
How can we tell if a learning center or course labeled as “math and chess” does truly integrate chess it math? Only Ho Math and Chess has the patented technology to integrate math and chess so my honest advice is to really follow the following 3 steps:
- Investigate
To find out if the math and chess truly integrated material is offered.- Compare
Ho Math and Chess got involved in math and chess integrated teaching because its founder Frank Ho has researched the subject of math and chess teaching for over 10 years and he is the authority in the field.
- Decide
Only after one has done comparison and investigation, can one really make the correct decision.

How To Use A Dictionary
By: Nick Broadhurst | 27/11/2009Why are dictionaries important, and how to they speed study, and how do you really use them, are questions covered in this essay.
Why Some Math Formulas Shall be Memorized
By: Frank Ho | 25/11/2009Shall math formulas be memorized by students? Many times we hear the answer is either YES or NO and both these answers are absolutely wrong. If the answer is “yes” then it seems to imply that all formulas learned from grade 1 to grade 12 shall be remembered, this is a wrong way of teaching math. In contrast if the answer is “no” then it means students are not required to remember anything and in this case what is the consequence if students do not bother to remember any formulas?

Piano Learning Program - Rocket Piano
By: Sally Jensen | 24/11/2009Many people have learned to play the piano through various methods. The most common would be to learn under a supervision of a professor, a teacher or an instructor. This would mean paying a large fee for some time. If you do not have that much cash, a piano learning program would be ideal for you. It can actually help you be independent to learn the piano.
How To Find A Math Tutor
By: Frank Ho | 23/11/2009Let's face it. Math tutor does not need a license to teach (at least in North America). So anyone with some kind of degree can claim to be a well qualified math tutor and the consequence, sometimes, is poor kids suffered since they can not judge if they have been taught in the correct way or not. I have written other articles to point out some problems on how some math tutors have taught math concepts or math algorithms in a very ineffective way.
Sudoku Chess Puzzles Spark Children’s Math Interest
By: Frank Ho | 23/11/2009I have observed that one of the main reasons that children hate math is they have not mastered the foundation of math, surprisingly the root of problems can be traced to the basics they learned in the elementary grades such as addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. When elementary students are asked why do we have math?
How to Use Chess to Improve Math
By: Frank Ho | 23/11/2009Some math educators seem to feel math problems can be divided into 2 parts, one is pure computation and the other is problem solving - this claim is evident by examining the textbooks used in schools. When looking at the worksheets offered for elementary students, this seems to be very logic since there is “nothing” could be related to numbers used in the computational problems to enhance thinking ability.
The Future Trend of Math Learning Center
By: Frank Ho | 23/11/2009Will the way of math teaching change in the future? I think so, especially in the elementary schools. The idea of just giving traditional math worksheets to children for them to work on and expect them to do math well will become an increasingly unpopular method of teaching math. It is boring and it is not what children wanted and children had never given any choices as to what kinds of worksheets they wanted, they were simply told to work on them.

A New Chess Set for Teaching Mathematical Chess
By: Amanda Yang | 27/06/2009 | TutoringIf one thinks that chess game is made of warriors or commanders and kings and queens battling in the field then this notion does not really address the reason why chess pieces move in a pattern-like direction for example, rook moves up and down or left and right and bishop moves diagonally. Is chess game a reflection of ancient war or is it an invention based on a mathematical principle? The author believes that chess game is invented by using the geometry symmetry concept and this conjecture is
