Ajijic Vacation Rentals are Better Than Ajijic Hotel Rooms in Mexico for Savvy Travelers

Ajijic Vacation Rentals are becoming a popular way to stay while on vacation in Lake Chapala, Mexico. Americans retire in Mexico in larger numbers now more than ever. Future expats are finding Lake Chapala as the best place to retire, and many are choosing to stay in a vacation rental homes during their fact finding visits.

1. Give me my space! Most hotel rooms in Ajijic, Mexico are smaller than a Manhattan studio apartment averaging somewhere around 200 – 300 square feet. A vacation home rental on the other hand provides you with on average 1000 square feet or more. Of course you get a bedroom and bathroom and sometimes more than one in Ajijic rentals and you typically have kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms, and private outdoor areas such as gardens and patios. You get more space and privacy.

2. Live like a local.  If the reason for your visit is to check out Lake Chapala and Ajijic to retire in Mexico, then staying in a Ajijic villa or casa makes even more sense. Learn where to shop in Lake Chapala and do as the other gringos do. Meet other people in the area and use them as resource for guidance and recommendations. Experience what it's like to live in central Mexico.

3. If your Ajijic travel includes family or friends or both, it's often more affordable and fun to hang out as a group in you own private abode by renting a vacation rental. When you consider the cost of individual hotel rooms in Ajijic, it can get a little pricy once you total it up.

4. Cook some of your own meals. Even it your idea of cooking is making a pot of coffee, a rental home in Lake Chapala provides you with the option to make what you want when your want it.  And on top of that, cooking at home make the trip more cost effective, even if many of the local Ajijic restaurants are very reasonable when it comes to cost. The Ajijic Wednesday market is a great place for you to buy goodie to fix at your vacation home rental.

5. Get some sleep. Whether you are a night owl or and early bird, sleep is important when you travel. Often when lodging in an Ajijic hotel it can be challenging to coordinate your patterns with that of the hotel staff. Maybe you stayed out late and want to sleep in the next morning.  The maids understandably have a job to do and this isn't the Hilton where she might have 50 other rooms to clean. In addition, quiet often you'll hear noise in the outside hallways, maids vacuuming, guests talking etcetera.  When you stay in a vacation rental home in Ajijic, sleep as late as you want, take breakfast or coffee in the morning at your pace you're on Mexican time.

6. The whole idea of Ajijic travel and world travel has changed. Many airlines are limiting the amount you can check in or carry on without paying an arm and a leg in extra charges. Check with the vacation rental owner, do they have laundry facilities? If so, you can actually pack lighter for your Ajijic vacation because you can easily wash what you packed on the premises.

7. Safe and sound. Lake Chapala hotels typically have lots of staff with keys and most have access to your room.  Things occasionally 'go missing' and that's why hotels have policies that they are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Compare that with a Ajijic vacation home, no people walking around the property day and night with keys to your room. The rental owner will have a set and maybe a trusted maid or gardener might have a set of keys and that's it.

8. Compare the amenities and creature comforts of a Ajijic rental home vs Ajijic Hotels and I'll bet you'll find more value. More room, more bathrooms, bigger bedrooms, more options of places to be living rooms, studies, computer rooms, gardens, terraces and patios to name a few.
