Apartments in Pamporovo: Prices and Availability

Pamporovo is the second largest ski resort in Bulgaria after Bankso. It is located in the Rhodopa mountain in Southeast Bulgaria and has been one of the favorite destinations for Bulgarian and international skiers for several decades. It is quite unique, spread over a large area with hotels and apartment complexes at some distance from each other without a definite center of the resort. Yet, this is exactly what visitors like - the wide open spaces, the broad vistas and the sheer large scale of the mountains around. Recently, a leading Bulgarian tourism website compiled and published data on the types of holiday apartments available for rent in Pamporovo and their prices. The findings are as follows:

1. Pamporvo accounts for about 10 percent of the ski holiday apartments in Bulgaria. Bankso holds the definite lead with 71 percent of the offers. Pamporovo comes third after Bansko and Borovets, a popular ski resort just 60 km from the capital Sofia.

2. The most widely offered type of apartment in Pamporovo are one bedroom apartments. This is consistent with other ski destinations in Bulgaria and, in fact, with all holiday apartment offers in the ski and the beach resorts. One bedroom apartments usually sleep four people accommodating 2 in a bedroom and 2 more on a sleeper sofa in the living room. Judging by the number of requests from tourists, these apartments are also most in demand as they can accommodate families with children.

3. One bedroom apartments rent out for about 385 euro per week in the high season and for about 312 euro per month in the low season. The large price difference, as with other ski resorts, is primarily due to the high prices during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

4. Pamporovo has very similar prices compared to those in Bansko where one bedroom apartments rent for 392 euro per week in the high season and 306 euro per week in the middle season. Pamporovo, however, is significantly cheaper than Borovets where the rents are 510 euro and 438 euro in the high and middle season, respectively.
