Bodrum holiday guide

The Turkish port town of Bodrum (formerly Halicarnassus) is located in the south west province of the country in the Mugla Province.  The town is located at the bottom tip of the southern coast Bodrum peninsula facing the popular Greek Tourist Island of Kos. The area is most famous now for its harbour and popular amongst yachting enthusiasts.

A popular tourist attraction within the region is Bodrum castle in which was originally built by crusaders in the 15th century; the castle overlooks the harbour in which would have originally been the first port of defence if the town was to be invaded. The castle now also serves as the museum of Underwater Archaeology and is popular amongst tourists. The castle is a dominant presence in the Bodrum skyline, the tallest of the fiver tours can be seen from all over the area.

If it is nightlife you’re interested in, Bodrum boasts the most bar per square mile than anywhere in Turkey and in a country that often sees whole streets full of bars that is some boast! The area has become a popular destination with tourists looking for a lively environment and nightlife and it doesn’t disappoint. Along the harbour and around the castle area is where the largest population of bars is to be found, whether you looking for a quite bar in which to relax or a lively club in which to dance into the early hours, Bodrum has it all to offer. The Halicarnassus Disco is very popular amongst tourists and takes its name from the old town name.

The Museum of Archaeology

The museum has been located in the castle since 1962. The museum is home to a vast collection of exhibits such as ancient shipwrecks discovered in the Aegean Sea, it also has numerous items found within wreckages such as ancient glass, amphoras, bronze, clay and iron items. They were largely found on the discovered shipwrecks of the Finike-Gelidonya of 12th century BC and the Bodrum Yassiada shipwrecks of the 4th, 7th and 16th centuries AD (the varied eras of these wreckages being evident In the artefacts discovered).

A loan is an amount borrowed from one person or professional lending body (i.e. a bank or financial institute) in which the amount is then repaid. The amount is often subject to a time frame such as x amount of pounds paid back over x amount of months usually with an amount of interest on top. The loan is then a debt in which the borrower then owes the lender. The most common type of loan is an unsecured loan and this taken out from a bank or building society.
