The Little Guide to Car Hire

Car hire can turn a family holiday into a much more exciting experience if you follow a few little tips.

Car hire can give you the freedom to get out and enjoy your holiday – experiencing the sights to be seen and getting away from the normal tourist locations into the bargain.

How can you make sure the experience of renting a car goes smoothly?

Here's how;

• Making sure you book your car hire in advance will save you a substantial amount of money over "in resort" hire. You can now utilise the internet to find a good deal on the majority of financial and travel products and it is advisable to make use of a comparison site which will do the legwork for you.

• Don't go for a cabriolet or 4x4 if you really don't need one, not only will it cost you a lot more on rental it will have increased running costs and may not be practical for your families needs, especially in the case of a cabriolet which will only have limited luggage and seating capacity.

• Be careful not to jump for extra insurance if you don't feel you need it as this can cause the price to escalate sharply, turning a good deal into a bad one. It can of course be useful if you intend to drive the vehicle off road as the underneath (and many of the delicate and expensive parts found there) are not usually covered but again this should be considered carefully.

• Make sure you fill the tank full when you hand the vehicle back – failure to do so can result in a penalty charge way in excess of the actual cost to fill up and this is a needless loss.

• Lastly, make sure you check the vehicle for any damage when you collect it and report this to the representative from the car hire firm to ensure you do not receive any nasty surprises when you hand the car back at the end of your holiday. If necessary, take pictures with a date stamp if possible. Follow these tips and you should have a stress free experience with your car rental on your next holiday.
