There’s so much to do in Tasmania. It may be the smallest of the 5 states in Australia but it certainly is not void of activity and adventure. Camping

If you love the outdoors, then Tasmania is the place for you. More than 40% of the place is protected by national parks and reserves, making it an ideal camping place. There are more than a 100 lakes to choose from as well as many formal and informal camp sites. There are many forests like the Gondwana forest where you can bunk it with some wildlife!

Fishing

With its numerous lakes and water bodies, fishing is only natural. Cast a line for tuna or wait around for that trout! You can also indulge in some fly fishing aided by experienced guides and professionals. If you happen to be in Tasmania in June don’t miss out on the Fly Fishing Film Festival that showcases movies from different parts of the world.

Wine trail

Australia has some beautiful wine yards. In fact some of the best wines in the world come from Australia. If you want to spend a day among these beautiful vineyards, tasting wines from different harvests, make your way to the Tamar Valley or the southern wine route that comprises of the Huon Valleys, Derwent and the Coal River. You will love the local wines and the way they compliment the cuisine. If its beer you crave for, that can be arranged as well! There are many breweries and distilleries just waiting for you!

While in Tasmania you must visit some of its heritage sites. Made rich with its Aboriginal heritage and inspirational arts and culture you will love everything about Tasmanian history. Do visit the Tiagarra Aboriginal Cultural Centre, The Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery or the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery located in Hobart.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. You can go pub hopping, enjoy world class cuisine in Tasmania’s numerous restaurants, visit its sandy beaches and even try your hand at different adventure activities like hang gliding, rock climbing, white water rafting etc. Don’t forget to visit the zoo and say hi to the Tasmanian devil!
