Hire Camervan Scotland: Four Must-See Castles

Holiday in Scotland. What can be more relaxing, except maybe to hire a campervan in Scotland. Why not? The roads is Scotland are easy to drive and the lack of traffic makes traveling through Scotland a relaxing holiday.

Scotland is home to some of the most ancient castles in the world, and a holiday is not the same if you don't see at least a few of them. If you are going to go to Scotland then you must see these four castles.

Stirling Castle

This is one of the largest castles in all of Scotland. It is surrounded by three steep cliffs, giving it its defensive position and its gorgeous views. It sits atop Caste Hill, a volcanic crag. This is where Mary Queen of Scots was crowned.

Urquhart Castle

The castle is now just a ruin, it was once a magnificent structure. The castle was built some time back in the 1200s--no one knows exactly when it was built. How can you visit Scotland and not see the home of the "Loch Ness Monster"? There is a gift shop there for now if you want to gift some "Nessie" memorabilia.

Caerlaverock Castle
This castle was built sometime in the 13th century and is a very popular tourist spot. The moat gives it a very "castle" feeling. It is triangle in shape, making it quite unique in appearance. The sheer beauty of this castle brings many happy couples and marks the spot of many weddings.

Edinburgh Castle

This castle is one of the oldest castles in the world and the most popular in Scotland. The architecture brings tourists from around the world to see its royal palace and great hall. The battle scenes, restaurants, and canons bring visitors daily. The views alone would make this a must-stop, but who can resist the re-enactments?
