Synthetic Oil's Many Benefits

For years, petroleum based oils ruled the market as the only option for a lubricant in an automobile's engine.  Modern science is constantly finding better solutions to today's tough, fundamental problems, and synthetic automobile oils are no exception to that trend.  Automobile engines themselves are becoming more complex as well.  This means there is less margin for error when using the correct lubricants to protect internal parts.  With the extreme heat and friction generated inside an automobile's engine, it is important to keep vital moving components such as pistons, valves, rods, and springs from being adversely affected.  If the lubricant used inside the engine can not withstand these extreme conditions over time, excessive wear or pitting can occur.  Quite simply, conventional petroleum based oil breaks down at a faster rate than the synthetic automobile oils being produced by scientists today.  This breakdown under harsh engine conditions causes unnecessary wear and translates into higher vehicle repair bills over time.

Besides the decreased engine stress, synthetic automobile oils save the consumer money at the gas pump as well.  Petroleum based oils cause byproducts as they are broken down over time.  These byproducts, namely hydrocarbons, attach themselves to internal engine components pitting the metals and creating a sludge inside the engine.  This occurrence hurts engine performance and causes more fuel to be burned, or essentially wasted, in the combustion process.  Along with the obvious greater repair bills already discussed from engine wear, fuel economy suffers when these hydrocarbons are introduced into the engine compartment.  Synthetic automobile oils create far less byproducts than traditional oils.  They will keep an engine cleaner and running more efficiently that much longer.  This again, saves both money at the automotive garage in vehicle repairs as well as the gas pump.

Essentially, the money spent on synthetic automobile oils rather than conventional petroleum oils will be saved many times over in the lifespan of owning a vehicle.  With our country experiencing some of the highest fuel prices in history, it is imperative that we find ways to increase fuel economy at little cost.  Of the many ways to increase fuel efficiency in our automobiles, synthetic automobile oil alternatives are by far one of the cheapest and most practical.  For those of us that use vehicles for work purposes and performance in some way, it equates into even more financial savings.  Assuming regular servicing is already customary, more consumers should consider using the synthetic alternative for their automobile lubricants.

Synthetic Manual Transmission Fluid's Many Benefits

By: Vinnie Peter Platania, Jr | 29/10/2009 | Trucks
Manual transmissions serve the same purpose as their automatic counterparts, to transfer power from the vehicle's engine to it's wheels at the desired speed. Unlike automatic transmissions, manuals use a simpler gear system in which the driver has more specific control. Because the gears in a manual transmission require a specific oil composition for maximum efficiency, and are subject to constant wear, synthetic manual transmission and differential oil works better than conventional.

Compromising With Synthetic Blend Oils

By: Vinnie Peter Platania, Jr | 28/10/2009 | Automotive
There is no question that the benefits of synthetic oil far outweigh their initial extra cost. Synthetic oils protect engine parts better, increase performance and fuel economy, and lengthen the life of the vehicle. For those people on an extremely tight budget or businesses with many vehicles to service, this extra cost can be difficult to manage. Synthetic blend motor oil is a good compromise that gives added protection while taking financial concerns into account.
