Achievements Review - Call of Duty 4

Call of Duty 4 has an awesome mix of achievements for the Xbox 360 that work in well with the game.

There are mostly standard achievements that you will unlock while playing through the storyline, and if you're good, you can unlock additional achievements by playing through each level on Veteran Difficulty. You can also unlock an achievement for completeing the game, and an extra achievement if you did so on Hardened or Veteran difficulty. A great thing about the achievements in Call of Duty 4 is that there are some achievements that require skill, but aren't so hard to do that you find yourself playing the game repeatedly in certain areas just to unlock the achievement. Examples of this include "Three of a Kind - Kill 3 enemies in a row with your knife in the single player campaign", and "Daredevil - Kill an enemy while blinded by a flashbang in the single player campaign." There are also a few collection achievements: two where you have to search for enemy intel, and one where you must destroy all the TV's showing Al-Asad's speech. These achievements help to change the pace of the game a bit, but as always, I would recommend using an Achievement Guide or Strategy Guide as you traverse each mission.

There is nothing completely outstanding about the achievements in Call of Duty 4, but that doesn't mean that the achievement list isn't solid. In fact, I'm glad Activision didn't try to go overboard with difficult achievements, as with many First Person Shooter's (classic example: F.E.A.R.). Overall, you should find unlocking these achievements rewarding, however it could be quite challenging for most everyone to get all of the Veteran Achievements.

Call of Duty 4 has 37 achievements for total of 1000 gamerscore points, all of which can be unlocked in the single player campaign for the Xbox 360.
