Console gaming has been going from strength to strength over the last 20 years - from the simple games of consoles like the Saga Mastersystem and Nintendo Entertainment System to the ongoing battle of the mighty Sony Playstation 2 and Microsoft Xbox, each new generation of games and gaming consoles out-doing the previous in graphics, game play and depth.
With the arrival of high definition televisions came the arrival of the latest gaming generation, high definition games consoles. Microsoft released the first console - the Xbox 360 in late 2006, supporting full 1080p HD capabilities whilst keeping backwards-capabilities for normal TV's.
Then in mid 2007 came Sony's beast - the Playstation 3. Both consoles were power-houses in their own right, supporting numerous processors running multiple cores allowing for truly staggering results.
As with all consoles the initial games released were ok, the graphics were good and game play also good, but all with a lot of room for improvement - and as the games programmers became more comfortable with the new machines and learnt the techniques the games started improving, not just in game play but in visuals also.
Leading into 2008 and both consoles have a large number of games available, both have dropped in price dramatically and both have evolved through updates to both the operating systems and online networks they run on.
With releases of games such as Halo 3 (for the xbox 360) and Grand Theft Auto 4 (for both consoles - a game that is breaking a lot of records at the time of writing) it's hard to see how these consoles can improve, how the almost life-like graphics can be beefed up or what the future can hold (maybe a Playstation 4 or Xbox 640?) in just a couple of years.....

How The Games Of Today Give Us A Glimpse Of Future Gaming Technology
By: Gregg Hall | 10/01/2008 | Art and Entertainment
I think games in the future will be even more realistic then the games we already have with our Xbox 360s and Play Station 3s. Microsoft and Sony will more than likely come out with something even more insane like a virtual game or something and that would be the game of the century.

About 4 years ago i was on internet and used to go into a room where people would talk about 80's music. It was not a room where you put a question in and checked back later. People were always in there and we would play trivia. It was on aol i believe. I would click on music on the left of my aol screen and would be able to get there. Just got back on internet...lot of changes. Just wondering if someone could send me in right direction. Thanks!
