LittleBigPlanet - Review

Imagine living in a world where everything is made up of strange materials, funny looking people, who communicate by laughter and creating your own world is the norm.

While on earth, the above is confined to weirdos and homeless people, on LittleBigPlanet, everyone is like this and it's quite fun, as it happens.

You fall into the roll of Sackboy, a little character with a small body and a large, oversized square-shaped head.

He's fully customisable from head to toe and he has a lot of expressions, according to which button you press on the D-Pad.

Lets get one thing straight, LBP is a revolution in gaming.

From the stunning physics,to the funny levels, to the innocently addictive gameplay, and most importantly, user-created content.

The physics are amazing, in which no games come close to matching.

Everything seems to fit in nicely, and if you wreck the world around you by knocking things over and pulling things around, it has such a real and genuine feel to it.

The levels are absoloutly comic. The addictiveness of the levels utterly amaze me.

The try-try-and-try-again rule comes into play here.

Theres so many times to beat, so much score to make up, so many objects to be found and discovered and thats before you think of just completing the level so you can move on fast.

As I mentioned above, LBP shines in its user, created content glory.

Not only does it make you want to play through the main campaign first, so you can discover all the objects to build a better level and polish it to perfection, but you can also upload it to the LBP community and people can then play and rate your level.

Everything is just so perfect in LBP, and nothing makes you say "Ugh, they should have moved that away from there" because you can move it yourself. Seriously though, theres nothing you would want to move. Nothing. Got it?

You can even edit as little as the music (even though it plays a big part in the game).

I don't just mean change the song, I mean change the pitch, tempo, bass ect,

The tutorial vids are ace, as they add laughter to education, which is hard to come by anyway.

It's also great for the kids, who are not allowed or too young to play your other games.

Media Molecule has set the bar with this near-flawless title, with errors only being minor (such as bad LBP servers at times, very rare repetitveness, and two player requirements to unlock other goodies) and developers such as Bethesda and Rockstar with their games Fallout 3 and GTA IV respectively don't really come close to this title.

LittleBigPlanet hasn't just set a milestone for the PS3, but for gaming overall, and its going to be very, very hard to beat.
