Gaming isn't for just kids any more. With the popularity of video games as a form a entertainment, along side the evolution of the video games going from pixels and beeps to full blown immersive / challenging productions, more and more we find that gaming is for an older group of people. Even hand held gaming, in the form of portable game systems like the Nintendo DS have gone main stream. With a multitude of challenging games, casual games as well as in depth role playing and platform games, moms, dads, as well as their kids, are taking to playing their games on the go.
What is lacking however is a hand held that truly offers more than just games. Something that allows you to play games, and carry around your other entertainment media with you as well seemed impossible just a short while ago. With the introduction of third party add on accessories like the R4 DS Card, that too, has changed. While most game systems end up doing just that, allowing you to play games, customers have been asking for, in some cases demanding, more and more out of their hand held game systems. As hand held game systems like the Nintendo DS come packed with more power, faster processors, better displays, and serious power under the hood, it was only a matter of time before unique accessories were released that enabled it to take advantage of the new digital content era.
The R4 DS Card is an add on for your Nintendo DS or DSi that allows you to play not only your favorite games, homebrew applications and homebrew games, but it also allows you to turn your Nintendo DS into something so much more. With the R4 DS Card you'll be able to watch movies, listen to mp3 music, read ebooks and even take your digital photo collection with you. What is even more amazing is that the R4 DS is no bigger, and looks no different than a regular Nintendo DS cartridge. In fact, the only difference between the R4 DS and any regular Nintendo DS Cartridge is the little microSD Card slot that is found on the top of the R4 DS Card. You can store and load all of your games and media, right from any microSD card with ease.
Setting up the R4 DS Card is also as easy as can be, and this is one of its biggest selling features over some of the other similar card on the market. The instruction manual on how to use it is included with the software CD. It's just a matter of dragging and dropping your media files from your computer over to the microSD Card. The package even includes a USB microSD Card reader / writer, to make it even easier. You just insert the microSD card into the reader, drag over your setup files (included on the CD) and then drag and drop your movies, games, or music and put the microSD card into the R4 DS microSD slot.
Once you've copied all of the media you want to use to your r4 ds card, you now just plug it into the Nintendo DS. Here's where the fun starts. Instead of seeing your regular Nintendo DS system screen, you'll be greeted with a menu system that is loaded instantly from the microSD card in your R4 DS. The menu gives you all of the options that you could possibly need, including access to games and applications, media files such as movies, music or digital pictures, and finally, an eBook reader that enables you to take literally hundreds of eBooks with you on your Nintendo DS to read on the go.
Feel like a movie? No problem! Just select the media icon in the R4 DS Card menu, and then select the movie file you want to play. Your Nintendo DS will instantly turn into a portable video player. Can't get that new song out of your mind? Just copy the MP3 over to your R4 DS Card and listen to it with the R4 DS and Nintendo DS on your daily commute. And of course, playing your favorite games is just one click away.
The R4 DS is truly a complete package for watching movies, playing games, listening to your favorite mp3's and even studying your work by having your text books in eBook format. The R4 DS Card is one of the most unique and amazing accessories for the Nintendo DS system, and one that no serious Nintendo DS owner should be without.
