    Playing games to preserve our brains is a provocative idea, driven by our fear of Alzheimer's. A survey in 2006 by MetLife Foundation showed Americans age 55 and older fear Alzheimer's disease more than any other diagnosis, even cancer. If a method of preserving or restoring youthful mental vigor were safe, inexpensive, and as simple and diverting as playing a video game for a short while each day, wisdom would tell us to do it.
