Theoretically, this hypothesis is indebted to Matsuyama’s (1996) symmetric breaking and Deardroff’s (1998) multi cone theories and, in general, suggests the presence of global divergence and hemispherical convergence. The hypothesis test is performed using the difference in differences method.
