The eye is an organ that detects light being the basis of the sense of sight.

It consists of a system sensitive to changes in light, able to transform them into electrical impulses. The simplest eyes do nothing but detect whether the surroundings are bright or dark.

The parts of the eye are essential to human existence because through them we grasp, perceive and find what is called the images collected by this system.

Compound eyes are found in arthropods (insects and similar animals) and consist of many simple facets which give an image pixel, ie mosaic (not multiple images, as often believed).

For light rays can be focused, must refract. The amount of refraction required depends on the distance from the object seen. Most of the refraction occurs at the cornea, which has a fixed curvature. The rest of the required refraction occurs in the lens. With aging, the human being loses this ability to adjust focus, deficiency known as presbyopia or farsightedness.

Visual fatigue may happen due to vision problems that may stem from the use of inappropriate corrective glasses as well as various troubles of the eye.

Generally the amount of lighting is shown in units of illumination (lux or lumen) per square meter.

How to check whether there's enough light to work :

The brilliance or reflection can affect or greatly increment eyestrain. The relative incidence of light on mirrors, glass, glossy paper and other surfaces are brilliantly shining light elements causing eyestrain or shadows.
* Direct Contrast. No enhancement can not see anything. Generally, the lack of contrast makes visual function very poor.
* Distribution of color.

Occupational elements that cause visual fatigue

* Lighting of an inadequate job
* Distances are very little for sight

Individual visual defects that cause optical fatigue

* Visual flaws: farsightedness, astigmatism, presbyopia, impaired visual acuity.
* Age 45 and over

Currently, there are numerous jobs that demand an outstanding permanent display of alphanumeric or graphic display as part of computer equipment.

To prevent visual fatigue on the screens must be properly regulate the size of text characters. It is also advisable to make a good adjustment of brightness and contrast. It is also desirable to regulate the positive polarity and negative polarity of the screen

Tips to keep your eyesight intact years into the future are:

* Orient the job so that the windows are located laterally since it reduced the glare that would occur if the user stay in front of windows or reflections that would occur on the screen if this is the opposite to the windows.
* Lamps properly screened so as not to produce glare or cause annoying reflections in the working area. * Use if possible a general ambient lighting. If, in addition to the lighting, using individual light sources (eg, flexor), these should not be close to the screen if glare and annoying reflections originate.
* Make small regular breaks to prevent eyestrain and, if possible, rotate the screen with other work involving less visual impact.
The screen and document holder should be sufficiently near each other and the same distance to avoid the gyrations of the eyes and the constant accommodation of vision.
