3 Best Digital Cameras for your Freelance Photography Career

To start off, we're taking into consideration price, because, not everybody is going to need a 800 to 1600 dollar digital camera. The only thing you need to start a freelance digital photography career is a camera with about 6 to 8 megapixels and some knowledge on getting your photos uploaded, traffic, conversions, keywords and etc. But if you don't even have a digital camera to start with (or) your in desperate need to get a new one, I am going to tell you the best digital cameras out on the market. The qualifications I look for in a digital camera are based around its ability to take good photos and also its versatility with a computer. Because if a photo can't be uploaded and edited later it could look very unprofessional. And could result in not getting high sales from your photos.

Let me be more specific on things you need to look for in a camera. The megapixels (which is how many millions of pixels are contained in the picture). Usually anything over 5 or 6 MP should be just fine, but if your more into taking more detailed pictures like sunsets or cityscapes then you might want to go higher. Other factors needed in a digital camera are features like vibration/shake reduction, big lcd screens, view finder, noise reduction, digital zoom, adjustable light settings - Iso settings - Exposure settings, and so on. All these things that I have mentioned will make it much easier to use your camera, and prevent a lot of retaking of your photos.

So on to the digital cameras:

Canon Powershot - Elph - SD950IS

The Elph series is one of the most popular digital camera types on the market. They offer more than enough features to get your started towards becoming freelance digital photographer. The SD950IS starts at about 399.99 with an amazing 12.1 megapixel (one of the highest megapixels out there). It also offers the most features that are useful and user friendly then most cameras. Features include face detection, autofocus, 2.5" lcd monitor, image stabilizer, shake and vibration reduction, and more. A con to the camera is that it could have better camera to PC connectivity. But overall it's easy to use, takes some of the best pictures you will ever see, and its sleek design is pleasing to have. If 399.99 is a bit too much check out the next selection.

Canon Powershot - Elph - SD1000

Personally I think this is one of the best looking camera designs and offers all the great features of the SD950 with just a lower megapixel. The price tag is greatly reduced by half, making this about 199.99 on amazon.com. Most of the features remain intact from the other Elph model, but the camera design is a bit different. This is still a great camera choice and you will be amazed at how good the interface is. The camera is overall a good buy for a freelancing photo taker.

Nikon - Coolpix - S51c

Nikon is one of the most known brands out there for photography, and this camera holds up to those standards. It has 8.1 megapixles, optical vibration reduction, 1600 ISO, and 5 modes of flash just to name a few of its features. The great thing about this digital camera is the wireless connectivity and "My Picturetown wifi." The camera is great for getting your pictures right to your computer via no means of any cord, in a good amount of time. So if you are on the move constantly and want a camera as high tech as you are, then the S51c is your choice. On the other hand, the aforementioned SD950IS by Canon has more shooting features and takes better pictures. On top of that the Nikon has a learning curve that might not be the best to start out with if you are a beginner. Don't get me wrong though, every new camera should include some kind of Bluetooth, wireless, or wifi features in the future. This Camera is sleek and maybe a head of its time.

Those are the picks and any one of those will fit perfectly if you want to start your own freelance digital photography business. If you want my other picks and more information on freelance photo taking then visit my site DigitalPhotoJob.com
