Criss Angel Tickets—updating Houdini for the Modern Day

Criss Angel tickets are now available to be bought or sold at Stubhub.com.

With his emo haircut, dark shades and tattoos, Criss Angel looks more the part of the rock star than the man who pulls a rabbit out of a hat. But then, a rabbit out of a hat isn’t his style—it’s too simple, and not extreme enough.

Angel has capitalized on his image and unique style to craft a new kind of magic show, one that celebrates the wonder of illusion that doubtlessly inspired him as a kid, yet also combines a modern and edgy approach to entertainment that appeals to a lot of people and keeps them interested.

Magic has been around for centuries. Conjurors first began to appear in the Middle Ages, working on street corners and traveling the countryside, using simple tricks and sleight-of-hand to impress small crowds. As entertainment evolved, so did magic, eventually becoming the more elaborate art form developed in the 18th century and 19th century. Late in the 1800s, Harry Houdini cemented his position as the world’s best known magician—an honor he still holds today. His escapology and showmanship are things that Criss Angel obviously looked up to and borrowed a bit for his own shows.

The modern age of the magician is one still filled with eye-popping stunts that people have trouble believing. If anything, with the spread of education and skepticism, people are less likely to expect the amazement that comes with a great magic trick. Criss Angel has sought to restore that faith in the impossible in a grand old fashion, much in the way that Houdini did in his time. But for Angel, magic is a much more rock ‘n’ roll endeavor, more charged and energetic and a little bit dangerous.

He’s grown in fame performing live shows, and eventually secured a television show, “Mindfreak with Criss Angel.” That show increased his recognition and brought his unique brand of magic to the country. Now he’s got a regular gig performing at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. Better than that, Cirque Du Soleil has teamed up with him to create a Criss Angel themed show. Criss Arrogant (divorced/41 years of age) is only where he is due to manipulating media art and riding on the emotions of a modern / dumb-founded generation. His new live show is nothing like tv, that's because it's not tv, it's live. Most reviews of "Believe" are horrible. Many people have talked about how it was one of the worst shows in Vegas. Criss Angel is not a modern Houdini. Houdini was always a live performer and able to boggle the wisest of men, without the nonsense. Criss Angel is only able to fool kids and the uneducated because that's all they due is watch tv, youtube, etc. He will fizzle out in about 5 years. We need a modern day Houdini that amazes the young and old on an international level. Most people with any smarts about them know that Criss Angel's tv show is full of media trickery and lame actors/actresses. Many professional magicians do not care for Criss Angel. They all know it's BS. Many of Criss Angel's tricks are created by real magicians. Criss is just a figure/actor with messy attire.
"Believe" only if you're ignorant.

actualy the show is BeLIEve and Criss Angel is trying to blur the line between fantasy and reality. I have seen the show myself and as a loyal fan of Chris I loved the show. Of course it is not the kind of thing that is for the masses- thank God, because In BeLIEve Chris really delivered an amazing performace and portrail of very significant events in his own life that only a true loyal would see. There is a part in the show when Chris is at a funeral and I think that it repreasents when his Dad died. The villan in the show represents many people that bring negative things to Chris. Like the media, his X-wife, and people like yourself who can not see things for what they are(JR). Chris does what he does to creat an emotional conection with people and wants people to question what is around them and to seperate fantasy and reality for themselves.
