In terms of offerings for cheap international calling, a lot of companies out there that offer slogans such as "Cheapest call India" or another similar sentiment offer to give you really good pricing but in order for you to secure that pricing, you often need to sign a contract. This may not be in your best interests. There may be other options out there so it's wise to shop around.

If you make a lot of international calls or would like to be able to make more international phone calls, it's important to find the company that offers the cheapest call. India calling rates can add up, especially if you're calling regularly and by finding a great long distance provider, you can save money, call India more often, and speak for longer periods of time.

Why a long distance contract isn't always a great idea

You may think it's worth your while to sign up for a service for a specified amount of time in order to save money on long distance dialling. But until you know who you're dealing with, you don't really want to get locked into a long term calling plan.

There are many reasons for that, such as:

-Until you start using a service, you won't know whether they deliver what they promise. No one wants to be locked into a contract with someone who doesn't deliver what they've advertised.

-Customer service is vital. Do you want to be in a contract for two or three years when you can't get your questions and problems solved in a satisfactory manner? You don't want to be locked in to a contract with a poor service provider and by not signing a contract, you can simply move on to another call provider if your existing provider doesn't deliver.

-Another service that offers cheaper rates or more features could be released before your contract period is up. Then, you're stuck paying a rate that's higher than necessary for the next few years which will leave you feeling cheated.

-Your situation could change. Today you could be looking for the cheapest call in India because a relative lives there or you're busy doing business there but before your contract period is up, perhaps you won't be making the same level of calls and could benefit from a different service.

Contracts can be a good thing at times. They do protect pricing rates and service level agreements but because international calling rates are dropping constantly and new deals seem to be getting better and better, doesn't it make sense to leave your options open? The company you find today could offer you the cheapest call. India may be a place you call regularly and that might be worth it today but what happens next month? It might be better to shop for the best options available on an ongoing basis.
