Feng Shui Your Website

Normal 0

Cyberspace today mimic the real world so accurately that it is not surprising that many are resorting to feng shui to create a great website. The general principles of feng shui advocate the harmonious flow of energy of Chi with your surroundings. In real life, premises with good feng shui co-exist with its surroundings, harnessing good chi that in turn bring good luck and good fortune.

The same feng shui principles can also be applied to websites. Websites, as we all know, are virtual real estates. If you own a good website with established contents and traffic flow, or if you happen to own a popular domain name, the value of the websites can go up to millions of dollars.

The first feng shui tip can be use in choosing the name of your domain. You must never have a domain name that has a hyphen in it (e.g. feng-shui-tips-today.com). Besides the obvious fact that hyphens takes a little more effort to type on the keyboard, the hyphens represent mini poison arrows slicing through your website name. This is very inauspicious and extremely bad feng shui. Instead, opt for a simple website name without hyphens (e.g. fengshuitipstoday.com). This practice can be observed from the websites in the Alexa rankings (it’s a ranking of websites based on traffic). Not one of the top 100 sites in the world has a hyphen in their domain name.

The next thing to observe is the colors scheme of your website. In feng shui, the colors of your business premises must be in accordance to the element of your industry. For example if you are in the restaurant business, which belongs to the element of fire, the auspicious colors for your premises will be shades of red and green. This principle can be applied in choosing the colors in the design of your website.

All businesses on the Internet rely on two things, the flow of information and the flow of traffic. If you are selling digital products online, you transfer the respective files to your customers, and if you provide a form of service, you convey the knowledge of your expertise to other Internet users. Basically, the Internet is a huge trading place of information. These characteristics are akin to the element of water, so by strengthening the element of water on your website, you will be in harmony with the element of this industry, creating good feng shui.

The element of water is represented by shades of blues and black. Colors of the metal element will also be lucky. In feng shui, the metal element produces water, so the use of white and metallic colors will also be very auspicious. This practice can also be observed among the top websites in the world. If you look at the top 100 websites, almost all of them use white and blue colors schemes. (See Google, Yahoo, Myspace, Facebook etc)

However, this does not mean that other colors are not suitable for website use. Other colors can be used so long as they relate to the topic of your website. For example, greens for gardening websites, yellow for real estate, fire and orange for recipe websites and blue for finance websites.

Another feng shui tip to observe is the design of the website. Generally, squares and rectangles are good shapes as they are balanced. Avoid using triangles and circles. In feng shui, they are considered volatile shapes. When using squares and rectangles in your web design, make sure that they have rounded corners.

The general rule is to treat your website like how you would treat your business premises. It should be neat and have a clean feel to it. The use of feng shui symbols on your website can also help create good feng shui.

I have a website that sells Himalayan Salt Products. The site is mothernatureshealingsalt.com My colors are white and green, is that the correct color scheme I should use for good feng shui? The products are 100% natural salt which I wasn\'t sure if that would be water element because it came from the sea or earth because it is now a mountain. Can you shed some light on this please.
