Select the Colour Brown for the Soothing Effect

Colour plays an important role in design, especially in designing websites. several shops use a website as a sales tool and using the correct colours can mean more sales, however picking the wrong colours can lead to less users and fewer sales.

Understanding how colour works is really important to all website designers if they want to form a successful web-site. This is because different colours affect humans in various ways, and can influence emotions & moods. because of this your colour choice could make your users angry if you don't get it right.

Colour might also be used to direct users to certain areas of a page. For example, you may want a user to click the purchase now button, which means that making it stand out is very significant.

Here's a guide to how various colours influence and affect people:

Black is associated with power, refinement, finances & mystery. in designing for the web, it can be used effectively with livelier colours to create stark contrast.

White is linked with cleanliness, simplicity, calm & purity. used in abundance in websites, it can convey style & demonstrates that the website's content is strong enough to stand alone without bold imagery or graphics.

With connotations to passion, annoyance, fire & power, red, used sparingly, can be a good way to direct the user's attention to a certain area.

Green is linked to trees, money & envy. The most calming colour in the spectrum, it is extremely popular with sites that're linked to nature.

The colour white is associated with simple & clean designs, so it's favoured by various design companies. It conjures up feelings of cleanliness, simplicity, honesty & innocence.

Evoking feelings of passion, sex, fire & aggression, red is a highly charged colour. red's bright side is bold, so it can be used to create awareness.

Grey can be associated with respect, humility, decay & boredom. it's used a lot to form shiny gradients in web design to give a slick, rustic feel to a web-site.

Orange is strongly linked to spirituality & healing. it's the colour that symbolises Buddhism & it has a healing energy about it. it's a bold colour that is not as bright as yellow yet not a deep as red.

Brown, particularly the the lighter end can have a soothing effect. Beige is also a favoured colour in designing web-sites because it provides an earthy and relaxed feel. it could also mean tradition, poverty and mother earth.

Grey can be linked to sophistication, innovation and the future. The paler side is similar to white because it is a wonderful colour to use on the background of a website to make a sense of space and modernism.

Finally, when choosing colours for web design, you should think about to the way it could affect users. The choice of colours might look nice or meet the brief, but will it put users off? by making some simple changes, like changing the purchase button to a vibrant colour might generate more sales. Serious consideration and thought can mean the difference between failure & success.
