As a webmaster you know that one of the most important parts of the success of your web site is choosing a web host. With the right one, your site could fly off the charts and be on its way to the stardom you dream of for it. With the wrong one, it isn't going anywhere.

When you start out on the venture of finding the right company to host your site, you're going to come across a ton of service providers and you'll see that they all almost provide the same basic features. They'll all have a package that includes a fair amount of disk space, a fair amount of bandwidth and all the add-ons you would expect upon visiting their site.

Almost all of these web hosts will have a low cost or cheap plan that will most likely catch your eye, that's all well and good and if you're at the site of a quality company that's even better. What you're really going to want to look for is the space they allow and the bandwidth they provide with the plan that fits your budget and the size of your site.

It's important to also beware of the infallible, 'We promise you the moon for only $X.' In most cases, this is simply not true. There are many plans out there that cost a buck a month or two bucks a month and they are very tempting. However, I can tell you from experience that they are simply not worth the hassle. Your website will flounder and all the hard work you put into will be for nothing.

In addition to that, if you take into consideration that many of the top web hosts in the industry offer plans that are less than ten bucks a month, there really is no reason to run the risk by going with a web host only because of their price.

Another caveat to beware of is the famous 'Unlimited Bandwidth' claim. There are some out there that this is absolutely true with, however, there are many who will claim you have unlimited bandwidth and once you reach a certain level they'll put a cap on it and pressure you to upgrade your plan. This is one of the reasons it's usually advised to choose a company that keeps an eye on the bandwidth consumption of their servers.

Of course, that's not the be all or the end all of choosing a web host but it should give you an idea of a couple of things to look for while on your quest to find the right one for you.
