Setting Up Web Hosting

Everyone now a days needs a web site for their business, it is not longer a luxury it is a necessity and if you don't have a web site you are behind. Web sites are very easy to setup and create, with only a very basic knowledge of computers needed. Within minutes you can have your .com created and your website up and ready to advertise for your business. In this article I will walk you through getting a domain name and setting up your web site.

First you will need to find a web hosting company there are many out there and pretty much all of them will offer you a domain name as well. These hosting companies will actually store your web site for you and allow you to log into them to update your web site. Most of these companies will also host email for your, and offer you a domain name. Depending on the company you go with your web and email hosting can run you anywhere from $5.00 a month to $50.00 a month. This price is going to depend on what services you want and the amount of storage you will need for your email and web site. Most small businesses can spend as little as $5.00 to $15.00 a month and get more storage space then they will ever use. Your domain name will run you about $8.00 to $15.00 a year depending on whether you want a .com .net or .biz.

Browse around because all web hosting companies offer different packages at different prices, so find one that offers everything you want and things you don't want. You can even check out my other article on what to look for when choosing a web hosting company. Once you have found your web hosting company and you have picked the package that you want, you will have the option to choose a domain name. So I have now selected my  package and I am at the checkout page where th hosting company is getting all of my information. As I go through the information they will ask me whether I want to register a new domain, transfer an existing domain, or use my existing domain. We are going to register a new domain and simply type in what we would like our domain to be and they will tell us whether it is available or not. Then we will finish the entire checkout procedure and our web site is no setup for us instantly and ready for us to start creating the pages. Note that most hosting companies will tell you that it will take up to 24 hours for your .com to work properly. Most of the time it takes about 8 hours or so for the .com name to go across the internet.

There are a couple of ways that you can create your web site now and that is either creating it on your computer and then uploading it. Or you can just create it using the web hosting companies control panel. I will describe using www.cheapasdirthosting.net control panel for this article. We will first click on the file manager and we will be shown a list of folders, we are going to click on the folder that has our domain name in it. Some web hosting companies will automatically put an index.html file in your folder for you. If this file is here simply click on it and where is says choose action select open and then choose the WYSIWYG editor for simple page modification. If you are not familiar with WYSIWYG it stands for What You See Is What You Get editor so it will look similar to a word processor. You can use this edit and not have to know a thing about HTML and make a very professional looking website.

Web Hosting companies now a days are very inexpensive and will allow even the most novice computer user create their own professional web designs. So there is no reason for any business to not have a web site to help promote.
