In the market of web hosting, all the web hosts are fighting for providing the more disk space. This is their marketing strategy that they use to attract their customers by assuring them to provide more disk space in their hosting package. Generally these companies send email to the users and in that emails they announced that they have included more disk space to their basic hosting plans, which now offer over 20,000 MB (mega-bytes) of disk/storage space to their customers.

As per the marketing viewpoint if any company is offering 20,000 MB of disk space instead of 5 or 10 thousand to its customer, then it will be a great offer for the customer. Very genuine, it’s difficult for any one to skip that offer as this is a normal mentality that more is better, so why not to accept the big offer? This is one of the advertising tool, but in actual terms accepting the offer of more space will be of no use as even in the case of an average company or a website that has 100 or more pages with many graphics, is even going to come close to using 20,000 Mb of disk/storage space per month.

In case of a small website, if it has twelve pages that get a total of around 200 page hits a day will generally use the average 2 MB of disk/storage per month. Obviously if anyone who was hosted with a certain company was somehow able to use 20,000 Mb of disk each month, the hosting company would run out of server space.

Actually there is no issue with such offer as it is one of the marketing tool companies used to follow, so as to attract more and more customers. If customers accept the offer of more storage space then it will be ok for them as it's better to have too much storage space. But while going for the offer customers should also look out some other important things such as the other web hosting services offered by the company. One should also look for the other services of the company such as - is the set-up and Domain free of cost or not, the location of the server, C-panel control (very easy control panel for beginners), Price per month, Transfer (monthly traffic allowed).

As the competition in the market increases the fight among the hosts also increases. All the hosts will search out for the new and better marketing tools to attract their customers. As may be next year they'll be start offering 30,000 MB to attract new customers. For innocent people this will be like a great deal and they will be happy and feel lucky that they are working with such a hosting company. By offering more disk/storage space, the hosting companies will entice more customers and affiliates, affiliates in turn will add more customers and the customers will be happy with the excess of space. This sounds to be very tempting, but this is a good going till everyone is happy and satisfied. But if any surprise comes afterwards it would be a great loss. So act prudently!
