When the Maid of Honor is busy collecting the names and addresses of all the bride’s friends, she is sometimes in a bit of tizzy. That’s understandable. With far-off relatives, grandparents in the old folks home, co-workers of the bride, and old high school buddies, it can get a little overwhelming for a simple Maid of Honor. In the rigorous preparations, she might forget one of the most important parts of the bridal shower invitations – the food. The Maid of Honor, by no means, should fail to mention the food that’s going to be served at the bridal shower.
You see, the Maid of Honor is responsible for organizing every aspect of the bridal shower – from the cake, to the movie, to the board games, and story-telling. That also entails cooking, preparing, or buying take-out food for the whole gang. As guilty as some people feel admitting this, it’s actually an incentive to go to the bridal shower just to get the tasty food, and tasty it is! Besides the main course, there are usually a slew of hors d'oeuvres, appetizers, and drinks like champagne, fruit punch, alcohol, martinis, and margaritas. Desserts are plentiful too.
Append a little note at the end of the bridal shower invitations that mention the food selection. Do it in a tasteful way, no pun intended. For example, ‘Don’t eat beforehand because the food is going to be incredible!’ That makes it seem like you’re looking out for them and not coaxing them into coming with the offer of free food.
Some sample menu items that can be mentioned on bridal shower invitations include shrimp salad, spinach salad, raspberry or lemon cheesecake, key lime pie, tiramisu, chocolate chip cookies, alcoholic punch, finger sandwiches, dips, and cookies. You’ll be up to your knees in tasty food if you decide to partake of bridal shower food.
Treat the Maid of Honor well because she’s probably invested a lot of her time into cooking and preparing the food. Compliment her and tell her how funny you thought it was that she mentioned the food at the end of the invitation’s wording.
