Italian Wedding Favors

Italian wedding favors are often considered as the most traditional wedding favors. Also known as bomboniere or confetti, these stylish favors are suitable for any wedding style be it a formal wedding or relaxed soiree. Italian favors are popular with brides because they add a romantic Italian touch to their wedding day.

Traditionally bombonierre’s consisted of sugar coated almonds or more commonly these days are candy or foil covered chocolates. However, each favor should consist of either five or three almonds or chocolates representing health, wealth, happiness, fertility and long life. The stylish nature of these favors and there inexpensive nature makes them popular all over the world.

If candy coated almonds or chocolates does not appeal to you too then consider using some traditional Italian foods which are considered lucky. Foods such as Wanda, which are sugar-coated fried dough twists make unique favors and are possibly something your guests won’t have tried before. Present them wrapped in colored paper in pretty boxes or tins.

If you would to offer other Italian style wedding favors how about sachets of cappuccino or espresso coffee. You could present them in matching cups and saucers. Alternatively give jars of multi colored pasta shapes and a recipe for a pasta dish. As an alternative to almonds or chocolates in your favors, give your guests some chocolate dipped coffee beans which incorporates the best Italian favors have to offer!

A tradition in ancient roman times was to shower the newly weds with bread crumbs to symbolize hope for a happy and fertile life. Stick with the tradition and give your guests miniature panetone cakes or miniature loves as wedding favors.

Alternatives to edible Italian favors include mini guide books to the sights of Italy or why not put together your own video guide books at home with guides to the country’s tourist destinations and lots of photographs. Or why not put together your own mini Italian cookbook with recipes for pasta, pasta sauces and traditional Italian desserts.

Finally, why not put together your own compilations of Italian love songs!
