I am an accredited Wedding and Event Planner and Designer and qualified Journalist from Australia. MIDNIGHT MAGIC
After spending 6 months working on a Corporate Conference, this Event Planner is absolutely ready to immerse herself in Weddings. So as well as devoting myself to my brides for the rest of the year I am going to be keeping an eye out for all the latest trends when it comes to ALL THINGS WEDDINGS.
What a job I have…I get to read blogs, view fashion shows and lose myself in the pages of Wedding Magazines, all in the name of research and as part of my job with the Wedding Boot Camp!
On my hunt for what is hot from overseas I have come across a rather interesting emerging trend; the Midnight Wedding.
There are a few variations on this theme, but basically it involves a couple getting married in the wee hours, rather than the afternoon or morning as is the tradition.
One of the variations I particularly like is choosing a night when the moon is full and having your reception first, followed by your ceremony. Done this way your guests can countdown to midnight and your Wedding!
Imagine a beautifully clear evening and the moon sitting high and full in the sky. Perhaps you could host a cocktail style reception and have your guests entertained by a swing band or ‘circus style’ performers like jugglers, fire twirlers and acrobats. Then, just before Midnight your guests can gather to countdown to your ceremony…and if the budget allows you could even have fireworks as a prelude to your nuptials. You could make this Wedding be anything you want; fun and funky or sophisticated and mysterious and the obvious date for it is 31 December but really any summer evening would provide the perfect backdrop to a Midnight Wedding.
For me there is just something so uniquely romantic about this style of Wedding, but I know it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. To decide whether this is right for you, consider the demographics of your guests and whether Grandma and Grandpa are going to last the distance. This type of Wedding will take some additional planning and because this is a new trend you may have to work to find a venue that gets your concept. This is where a Wedding Planner can be very helpful.
However, if you really want something different or perhaps your guest list is just close family and friends (aka Carrie and Big), this could be something fun to do and it will certainly take your guests by surprise, which I know is something many a bride wants to do.
Stay tuned for more hot trends and if you would like some help planning your dream Wedding, or ensuring that your special day (or Midnight Wedding) runs smoothly, contact me at christine@weddingbootcamp.com.au for information about our services.
