Unique Edible Wedding Favors

The most popular type kind of wedding favors are edible ones. These are not only popular with brides but they also go down well with guests who are often relieved to find something that doesn’t require planting or displaying each time you drop in for a visit!

Traditionally edible favors are almonds – given in threes or fives to represent health, wealth, fertility, happiness and longevity; chocolates ranging from candy coated to luxury handmade and candies in a variety of shapes and sizes. But, there is also a wide range of other edible favors such as cookies, mints, peanuts, condiments and beverages such as tea, coffee and alcohol.

For many brides there is a seemingly impossible quest to make their favors unique and totally perfect. Edible favors can provide the right blend between perfection and uniqueness, but you need to give your favors some thought and do a little research too!

Themed weddings require coordinating the favors to ensure you maintain the authenticity of your theme; whilst weddings which aren’t themed, require favors which coordinate with the wedding style. A good place to start with your favors is to think about the time of year of your wedding and edible favors which coordinate with the season.

For instance, honey is good for a spring wedding, homemade preserves for a summer wedding, spiced apple sauce for a fall wedding and sachets of mulled wine spices for a winter wedding.

Pretzels are a nice choice for wedding favors as the shape is said to the origin of the phrase ‘tying the knot’. Cookies are another good wedding favor which is particularly popular at the moment. Whilst these popular cookies tend to be plain iced creations, you could make cookies at home in a variety of flavors to fit with your wedding.

If you have old family recipes then consider if they could be worked as wedding favors. A cake recipe for instance, could be used to make mini cakes or a punch recipe which could be used to make bottles of punch to give to your guests. If you can’t make your recipes into a physical favor then consider giving the recipe itself, perhaps with a small utensil which would be useful in its creation!

With a little time spent on research you can find a world of edible wedding favors which can be easily created at home. Give equal thought to your packaging and presentation as well as the combination of the favor and the presentation goes a long way to making your favors unique and personal to you.
