Wedding invitations give details like the hosts' names, request, couple's names, date, time, location, RSVP, attire, etc. But, what should be sent out concerning the specific details of the big day? Certain ceremonies absolutely require something called a wedding program. A wedding program is sent out with the invitation in the mail.
Some situations call for wedding programs; here is the following list of sample situations:
1. If you are hosting a devout, overtly religious, or even plainly religious wedding, then you must inform the guests because there are a variety of faiths. Also, you must inform the guests if your wedding is traditional because people and friends from other cultures may be unsure of what to expect. Wedding practices are widely divergent across the world.
2. If you're having a humongous wedding with a large population of guests that will not know the bridal party, then you need to include their names.
3. If you are having a ceremony that takes longer than usual ceremonies, you need to inform the guests. It's only courteous because some people are really busy.
4. If you would like to include a list of acknowledgements for people that have helped you plan and put on the wedding, then you need a wedding program.
5. If your wedding is hosting special musicians, festivities, or meals, then you may want to advertise this fact. It gets people prepared for the fun day ahead. For example, you wouldn't want people coming in liturgical wear to a beach party wedding.
The wedding program can be included with the wedding invitations inside a large envelope. The bare-bones wedding program should include the following elements:
A good, attractive cover, the sequence of events, the members of the bridal party, the religious rituals that will occur, requests for audience interaction, memorial notes, significant facts or sentimental bits of information that help explain the wedding's location or theme, and, finally, poems, quotes, bits of love letters, or anything else that doesn't fit on the wedding invitations. There will be different wedding programs for Catholic, Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, and Tribal weddings of various kinds. If anything, even if guests don't show up, they'll learn something new.
Wedding invitations take the cake when it comes to informing your guests of the big day, but wedding programs are like steroids that pump them up and make them into a stronger suit.
