Is it really possible to find a healthy fat burning diet which will help you lose weight? A great deal has been written about the inclusion of fat burning foods in your everyday diet and meal plan. For example, foods that are high in protein and those that contain soluble fiber take far more energy to digest than foods that are high in fat. Digesting these foods burns more calories and contributes to weight loss. As a result, it is beneficial to include high protein and high fiber foods in your diet.
A healthy fat burning diet can be found in many different diet programs that focus on taking in less calories each day than you burn, eating the right foods which can contribute to weight loss and including cardiovascular exercise as part of your daily routine. As a general rule, if you want to lose weight, whether or not you follow a healthy fat burning diet, you should focus on the following:
- Calculate your basal metabolic rate. This is the number of calories you would burn each day if you were totally inactive. You can find a BMI or BMR Calculator online. If you reduce that number and/or increase your activity rate, you will start to lose weight.
- Eat the correct foods. Eating foods high in protein will preserve and increase muscle and force your body to work harder. The more muscle you have, the less chance fat has in your body. Also, increasing dairy intake, especially low fat dairy, has been found to contribute to weight loss.
- Eat 5-6 small meals a day rather than the three large meals we are accustomed to. This helps your body digest and burn up your food more efficiently.
- Be Active. It is best to get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day, Include both aerobic exercises like walking or jogging and anaerobic or muscle building exercises like weight lifting
