Burn Fat and Build Muscle – Get Rid of Fat

Tom Venuto is a natural bodybuilder who knows the real deal when it comes to burning fat and building muscle. He has been in the competitive natural bodybuilding scene long enough to know all the ins and outs, and all the secrets to burn body fat and build lean muscle. While it may not make sense to get your body fat down below 4% as most bodybuilders do when it comes to competition, but wouldn’t you like to get your body fat down to a very health and fit level of 9 or 10%?

To build muscle and gain lean muscle mass, you need a slight calorie surplus in your diet, while to burn fat, you need a slight calorie deficit. To stay lean, build muscle, and maintain a health, low body fat percentage, you need discipline and the right knowledge on how to accomplish that. The simple secret to building muscle without the fat is to have a very small calorie surplus.

The key to building lean muscle mass while avoiding fat gain is adjusting your protein to carbohydrate ratios, performing the right kind of cardio at the optimal times, and having a training program that stimulates muscle growth. The more muscle you have, the more calories you naturally burn, and the more fat you will burn.

For Fat Loss, carb cycling is one of the most important methods to know. Tom typically recommends a carb cycle with a 20 to 30% deficit for 3 days followed by one full day at maintenance levels + 10%. For building lean mass, he recommends a carb cycle plan with a 15% surplus for 3 days and a one day maintenance with a 5 to 10% deficit. Of course, these are just general guidelines, and there are many variations on these carb cycling plans.

Another popular method for weight loss is calorie shifting. The idea behind calorie shifting is to constantly change the amount of calories you consume to confuse your body such that it is constantly guessing at how much calories it can expect to consume; thus helping your body maintain a higher metabolism, which in theory should lead to weight loss. This is basically a zig-zag type of diet where you might consume low calories for a short period of time (say one to three days) then follow that with a short period of high calories consumption.

More important, however, is where your calories come from, and consume foods that help burn fat, instead of eating foods that turn into fat. Like most fat loss experts that knows what their talking about, Tom Venuto advocates aiming for just one to two pounds of weight loss per week. This type of slower weight loss is healthier, and more sustainable. With the proper knowledge on how to accomplish this coupled with exercises, you can achieve permanent fat loss leaving you with a lean, fit, and healthy body. This is nothing like the lose 10 pounds in 3 days or one week fads where most (if not all) of the weight you lose are water, muscle, and body wastes. Forget about the diets and weight loss products that claim to help you lose massive amounts of weight in unbelievably short period of time. While some of them might work, you do so at a risk to your health and fitness, and stand to gain back all of the weight you lost using these unhealthy methods. You need to learn about REAL fat loss.
