Hypnosis Weight Loss Works

How hypnosis can assist you in losing weight and keeping it off!

How many times have you gone on a diet only to pile back on the weight you have lost and more.

Most of us can relate to this scenario. We start off with the best intentions, often buying an item of clothing 2 sizes smaller as an incentive to get into it when we reach our goal. We decide on a starting day – usually a Monday and pig out at the weekend eating as much junk as possible as we are not going to be able to eat this type of food ever again!

Monday comes and we start – we have planned our menu for the week and told our families not to offer us anything that will sabotage out efforts. We continue through the first week on a high and first thing on the following Monday morning we get on the scales. Eureka – a 5 pound loss – Yes 5 pounds, isn’t that great.

You tell yourself that you can put up with the type of food you are eating if you are going to lose weight at this rate. So you continue into the following week, often repeating the same food choices as it worked so well. The following Monday morning arrives and you jump on the scales to see that you have only lost 1 pound – 1 measly pound for all your effort, eating food that you did not enjoy. You did the same as you did last week so why has it not worked.

At this rate you will be eating this way for months if not years to get to your goal and hating every minute of it.

So why has this happened?

Firstly, on average the body can burn around 1.5 to 2 pounds of fat per week. In the first week you tend to lose excess water. The body holds water if you are eating too many of the wrong foods and if you have an intolerance to any particular food or food group. Therefore the weight loss over 2 pounds will be water lost not Fat!

In the second week and thereafter a weight loss of 1–2 pounds is healthy and normal, any more and you are probably losing more water or burning muscle. It is important to remember that it took a long time to gain the weight and you are not going to lose this overnight. However, steady weight loss of 1–2 pounds is sustainable, and improvements to image start showing very quickly.

Now this may be disappointing to you but accept it because it is true. The important thing is to turn it into a positive and enjoy each 1 pound lost rather than expecting faster results that will not happen or if they do will return in time. You are looking from permanent weight loss by eating food that you enjoy and fill you up.

How do we sustain a diet and keep up momentum?

Let’s dispel the myth that diets works as they don’t!

Diets are often limiting on quantity, variety and taste. The slightest issue, stress, emotion in your life and you will look for something comforting to eat. It is essential if you are going to lose weight and sustain the loss that you eat balanced, healthy meals with treats across all food groups. You should not be thinking about your next meal or craving foods. Eating food and enjoying each meal should come naturally and not be an obsession.

How can Hypnosis help me to attain my desired weight and keep it off?

To understand this we need to cover how we perceive food. Most overweight people use food as comfort, so whatever their state of mind they will turn to food for the feel good factor. This is something that has been ingrained into us throughout our lives.  With so many types of food that give us an immediate high on the market it has become the norm for us to use food for short bursts of good feelings rather than for energy, hence the excess food not burnt off is stored as fat.

This is one of the main reasons we fail when embarking on a diet. We deprive ourselves of all the foods we like and then when we have an emotional or stressful time, good or bad, we turn to food for a rush of the feel good factor.

Food intake should be enjoyable, eating the food we like but in a balanced and controlled way that we can maintain a healthy weight.

So how do we control our eating?

To do this we need to reprogram our subconscious mind to stop us using food as our crouch.

Thought is a very powerful thing and plays a large part in weight loss. We are conditioned to act on thought. When we see something we want our brain releases a chemical called ‘Dopamine’.

Dopamine creates craving, craving leads to eating usually bad things that taste nice, the body then releases a chemical called ‘Serotonin’ the feel good factor which is short lived. The brain remembers this and the next time you need to feel good the process starts all over again.

Thought > Dopamine > Eat > Serotonin > Feel Good Factor

The answer is to break the link between ‘want’ and ‘action’ To do this you need to stop the process before you get the desire for it – once the desire is there it is almost impossible to stop yourself from eating that chocolate bar or whatever your preferred food is. Yes willpower sometimes works, but who wants to spend time constantly fighting desire, often failing.

This is where Hypnosis comes in. Contrary to public opinion, it is not people totally controlled by the Hypnotherapist, running around a stage in front of hundreds of people doing and shouting embarrassing things.

It is about relaxing and listening to a trained practitioner putting healthy suggestions in your mind that reprograms your way of thinking towards your particular area of concern – in this case your weight. By making these suggestions you will be able to without consciously thinking about stop overeating and lose the desire for too much junk food. You will feel satisfied with your consumption and the rest will take care of itself. All of this can be done in the comfort of your own home in your own time with you completely in control.

Take care
