Keeping a Food Diary

Keeping a Food Diary

Keeping a food diary is an excellent first step in assessing how you eat now and why you eat the way you do as well as recording your weight loss journey. It will help you target your current problems and look into the root of them. In the end, it will also help you to design the eating plan that is best for you.

Keeping a food diary will give you a firsthand look at the types and amounts of food you are eating. For example, you will be able to see the amounts of fruits and vegetables you are eating and be able to compare that to what is recommended. Start by recording a typical day of eating before your diet and then start writing in the changes as you start moving forward into your diet. You will be amazed at how often you eat and what you  put into your body.

Keeping a food diary can also help you better understand why you eat at certain times.  You can start to realise what events cause you to eat like stressful situations that trigger "emotional eating." Being able to look at what you ate when stressed makes you more aware of your choices and helps you learn what works better the next time A food diary is a great tool that will help you in your journey to achieve successful weight loss and improved health.
In order to achieve your goal it is important that you write down everything you eat and write it down honestly. If you cheat, you are only cheating yourself. You can read your diary and also be proud of your achievements as well as look at the improvement in your eating habits when you get started on a weight loss plan.

If you are about to start a diet or weight loss programme, get an exercise book or a notepad and start writing. Record your goals and dreams. Write down everything you eat in a day. Record your exercise. Write down how you feel. Whether you are happy, sad, frustrated, record all of your emotions. A food diary is a vital tool and will help you to achieve your goal. You can also look at it on a daily basis and recognise that you are fulfilling your dream. Recording your weight loss journey will help you achieve a successful slimming result. Ensure you fill it out every day and record your success!
