Gout is a painful disease of the joints, which usually affects the big toe first in most people. It is caused by too much uric acid in the blood. Uric acid is formed by the breakdown of chemicals called purines, which can lead to high levels of uric acid and cause many problems such as joint swelling and kidney stones. Normally the uric acid is dissolved in the blood and passes out via the kidneys into the urine but if this does not occur it can build up in the body and cause the crystals to deposit and cause gout.
There are some genetic disease which can affect how your body breaks down the uric acid. It can also be caused by exposure to lead, animal based foods, medications, excess alcohol, obesity, or foods that are high in purines. Some of these foods are organ meats, such as the kidneys, brain, or liver of the animal. Also, herring, peas, dried beans, and anchovies can have high amounts.
As a result of this physiology, gout is common in those with hyperuricaemia-being condition of high level of uric acid. However even when is abnormally a condition referred to as hypouricemia, it can cause a gout attack too. Causes of gout can be classified as either primary -arising spontaneously or from an obscure or unknown cause or secondary -as a result of complication of other medical condition
In order to learn how to prevent this affection you need to understand its causes. In most of the cases, gout attacks appear at people who have hyperuricemia. This conditions occurs if the level of uric acid inside the blood is too high above the normal limit. Normally the kidneys are responsible with the elimination of the uric acid from the body, but sometimes there's too much of it and they can't get rid of all of it.
Another factor that creates this condition is obesity due to poor dieting. While there are quite a few healthy foods that contain purines such as beans, many of the foods that cause gout are simply not good for you. These unhealthy foods prevent your body from functioning properly which can lead to either increases in uric acid or the inability to properly get rid of it. Also, the excess weight adds stress to your joints which can damage them causing them to be more susceptible to having an attack.
It is also believed that chlorinated water excess free radicals might create dangerous toxins for the human body. More exactly it may lead to liver malfunctions, weakening of the immune system and pre-arteriosclerotic changes in arteries. Excess free radicals are also linked to alternation of cellular DNA. Chlorine also destroys antioxidant vitamin E which is needed to prevent the excess of neutralize radicals for cardiac and anti-cancer protection.
